is there anywhere in the city to play squash? I know the franklin racquet club has courts, but does the downtown YMCA or DAC or anything have a place to play? |

DAC and the Racquets Club both have squash courts I believe. I think the old University Club, which is now the YWCA, has squash courts as well. Not sure about the downtown YMCA. |

DAC has quite a few squash courts, about six from my recollection. East side, the Wimbledon racquet club in SCS has several as well. |

Docmo is correct: the Downtown Y has two courts with moveable walls that can switch between racquetball and squash configurations. |

ooooooooh. frenchman hasn't been here long enough to realize that the better umich is playing, the bigger the upset msu smacks down upon them. definitely use the courts at the downtown y - I don't think I've ever seen anyone playing there... |

does WSU still have squash courts? I used to play there all the time. I recall the DAC (or maybe the Masonic Temple?) had a (rare) old time doubles squash court, is it still around? Not many of those around anymore anywhere. |

There are no squash courts on Belle Isle, however there are squash courts at the new downtown YMCA - sort of. The two courts are handball courts, but have moveable 'ding' boards which can be quickly installed or removed and the walls are lined for the lesser inbounds area of squash. For those not familiar with squash, ding boards [aka the tin topped by a thin board] covers and area roughly two feet up from the floor which if hit during play is an out of bounds shot resulting in loss of point or serve. In fixed courts these are often metal and make a ding sound when hit. At the new Y they are plastic. This cool tournament picture shows a squash court with red 'tin' visible. |
