I'll be damned if it snows in October in city proper. It would be cool if there were some flakes during the Friday night game, but I expect only Ann Arbor and Brighton will be seeing snow. First Detroit snowfall will be November 4th. Go to northwestern Michigan and you can play in more than 12" by this weekend.

We are supposed to get some accumulation up here in Charlevoix tonight with more tomorrow. Of course it will be gone by Sunday, expecting highs in the 50's, but til then, man the shovels!

WE will get some snow Thursday night, lows will be around or just below the freezing mark, which is enough for at least wet snow, combining with the rain, could create some black ice that night.

I don't think it is counted as the first official snow until they can measure an accumulation on the ground, so flakes in the air don't count.

But it might not be counted in the record books as the first official snowfall. Sorry, windshields aren't an official snow gauge approved by meteorologists. :-)

ok Wolverine, I am trying really hard to SEE the snow in your pics! LOL! Where is it?

I am 4 miles from Lake Michigan and we are getting some angry snow squalls right now, white out at times.

Sorry miss_cleo. I thought for sure the visibility of the snow on the roofs and leaves, and angled streaks across the photos would make it quite clear it's snowing. I made the images over 800 x 600 to help.

I could definitly see it in your first couple pictures, Wolverine. I'm in A2 too and woke up right after those squalls, damnit. Now any snow showers that come in tonight will have a chance of coating the ground, with lows 28 to 31 expected.

nice snow...h-m-m-m-n-n...never saw any of that.

what's 'nice' snow? it's always been sorta mean, far as I'm concerned.

even when we play with it, it hurts...and it makes gravity much more an enemy than a friend.

YAY, My favorite season is almost here. Snow is always nice. The more the better. Snow and gravity are some of my best friends. Nothing better than flying down a mountain on a small piece of fiberglass and Ptex.

Few things are as much fun as Snow and a rear wheel drive car. Rear wheel drive is much more predictable in response to snow than front wheel drive is. You just need to know how to repond to the sensations.

I guess we picked the wrong time to take one last RV trip to the UP this weekend... I'll bet that RVs handle worse on snow/ice than rear-wheel drive. Should be fun.

Oh, and A2 is about to get the next one.

Set the record for earliest measurable snow today at Metro Arpt.

The squall that just came through A2 and should be arriving in Detroit brought near blizzard conditions and temperatures fell from 41 to 32.

Miss_Cleo,

Luckily, the other time we were over Big Mac this summer, they have special rules for semis and RVs - right lane and about 25mph. They actually use us to block the wind from the smaller cars. (Anyone else remember the woman in the Yugo who was blown off Big Mac? That was all I could think of our first time.)

Just drove home from A2 and actually had pencil-eraser-sized hail. It was sticking on the road, too, and, of course, it's WAY too early for road crews. Traffic was CRAWLING. But, then again, we're talking A2 drivers.

Was it snow of hail yesterday? I was on my way 2 work and I was caught in a haze on James Couzens. Shockingly, it went on 4 a good half-hour or so. Other than that, exactly when was the last time it snowed in October.....?
