From Onion, almost as credible as some of the others:

quote:

NEW YORK—Immediately following the Yankees' first-round playoff elimination last Saturday, George Steinbrenner released a statement announcing his intention to fire the Detroit Tigers, whose "inexcusable postseason performance stunned and saddened" the 76-year-old Yankees owner.

Jams, you tell it like it tis.
The Yankees pay for the survival of much of baseball. Steinbrenner should have a say, eh.
Go Tigers.

That was very funny, but I laughed out loud at the Bush link at the Bottom. Best laughs I've had in a while.

Here's a little story. I have a friend in the beverage industry. Steinbrenner had ordered several cases of champagne anticipating a yankee victory in detroit.

Late in the final game when the outcome was evidently determined workers began loading the cases onto a truck to go back to ny. Steinbrenner came down to the area where the workers were and told them to unload the champaigne and put it in the tigers locker room_ so for those of you that got sprayed during the celebration.........from steinbrenners bottle to your mouth or shirt or where ever........

Wonderful sorry, Citylover.
Steinbrenner showed some class.
They sure did have a huge amount of the bubbly to share.
