I wouldn't disagree (I don't think many of us would, for that matter). Any thoughts? Anyone else as excited as I am to witness the great rebirth and national appreciation of this city on all fronts--development, culture, and sports, etc?

I am with you and I haven't lived in Detroit for 31 years(lived there first 16 years). I am coming back to visit next year.

Jason Whitlock wrote a similar article for ESPN called "There's no place like Detroit". Unfortunately the article is now only available to ESPN insider subscribers. I read it when it was available free, and it lists the multitude of reasons why Detroit is a great sports town.

That statement about Rackham might be a little premature, unfortunately.

Detroit fans are loyal, this is true; but on the vocal side, I've heard louder in other places.
