Library Map Service Shows Development, 1867 To 1970

The Detroit Public Library (DPL) has a new, digital map service offering Sanborn fire insurance maps, 1867 - 1970, charting growth and development of over 12,000 U.S. cities and towns. The maps can be accessed from DPL computers by going to the "[On-line] Databases" page of the DPL's web site, http://www.detroitpubliclibrar y.org .
I tried to access it from home but it requires a username/password. :-(
