What ever happened to the building that housed the restaurant Edmund's Place?

Edmund's Place burned years ago. We were quite sad, because it was, by far, the best place to get Southern Cookin'! I believe it is this same building they are saving. It was a shell, but salavagable... I mean, if they could save those Row Houses on John R? they can save this!

Edmund Place was demolished during the Carlton renovations. The building in this URL is at the end of the next block by Brush.

Ah, it's the place across the street. It's too bad they brought the original Edmund's Place building down. I have many fond memories. Thanks for the update.

Those memories must not be that fond because it's down the block like Mowwow said above.

The place across the street from where the Edmund Place restaurant was is called the Lucien Moore House and is being renovated as the Moorie Townhouse Estates (http://www.platinumbldg.com/ht ml/body_detroit-brush_park.htm l). As you can see from the photos of the two buildings, the Moore house and the above-mentioned Edmund Place condo one block east do resemble one another in some respects.

Wow. Thanks Buddyinrichmond. I didn't realize that the Lucien Moore House and the new Edmund Place building looked so much alike. But then again, why would anyone want refrain themselves from making a smart ass remark all the way from Richmond? FU!

I think it's this description of the location that has everyone confused. The Lucien Moore House is not a block away from the Edmund Place site, unless we consider almost directly across the street a block away. But in that case it would be south and not east.

Kathleen - perhaps you are thinking of the Ransom Gillis? These mansion redevelopment all look alike you know...
:-)

Not sure who all is confused by the above postings...I know that I was at one point, but to clarify, three Edmund Street sites have been mentioned in this thread:

Edmund Place (the restaurant that burned and has been razed and now is part of the Carlton parking lot)

Edmund Place Condo development (on the same north side of the street, but a block to the east)

Lucien Moore House (across the street from the Edmund Place restaurant site)

The Lucien Moore House (now Moorie Townhouse Estates) and the Edmund Place Condo development are similar in appearance.

No! Yes! No... wait...

I was only confused about the Lucien More house and the Edmund Place condo house. They look so similar. But thank you Llyn for helping me feel better. :-)
