Tiger figures to prowl Jane Rayburn / The Detroit News Maybe they'll be good-luck omens, these 3-foot-long, 4-foot-high fiberglass tiger sculptures that will take over Metro Detroit in April, when the Detroit Tigers kick off their 2007 baseball season. The animal sculptures will be collectively known as "TigerTown," in celebration of the Detroit Tigers. The tigers will be created by local artists, designers and craftsmen, and area businesses are being asked to sponsor an individual tiger. All proceeds will benefit the Children's Charities Coalition, an umbrella group comprised of four nonprofit children's charities in Oakland County. "Hopefully, we'll have tigers all over Metro Detroit, with a concentration in Bloomfield Hills and Oakland County," Children's Charities Coalition spokesperson Gigi Nichols says.
