Blew the charm right out of the building, didn't they?

True, but they did come up with probably a better use for the building, maybe.

I think they swapped old charm for new charm. Way better than knocking it down, and they saved alot of the detail. You've gotta balance restoration with commercial viability...people like those big windows.

Why they painted the brick though is beyond me.

Quinn hits the nail on the head. Painting brickwork is an absolute sin.

I like the big windows, hate the painted brick.

Good to see things like this happening in older parts of town like Walkerville. I took someone on a tour of Windsor last week - he grew up in Victoria and now lives in London. He was impressed by all the little historic 'downtowns' we have scattered around the city...we really don't know what we have here.

Word on the street is Square One is done like a dinner- add it to the casualty list in Walkerville... ICON (toast), Walkerville Pizza (locked up), SOHO (left town), Posteroptics (closing end of year), Scratching the Surface (closing in april), T'Dye for (moving in April), Top Drawer (gone to the burbs), former Deloitte Touche building (in receivership along with The Complex and old Bank of Montreal), Stratchcone (mostly empty)- tough times for the old town...
