Anyone try it? what types of bets?

P.S. does this qualify as O/T as it relates to Windsor? ;-)

You have to parlay 2 or more bets. You can bet on anything from O/U to Spreads on CHL, NHL, NFL, NBA, etc.. but no horses. It pays out multiplied odds based on how many parlays you make. Minimum $2 bet, I think.

Off Track betting is something the Casino is pursuing for Legends (That's the name of the sports book/lounge). There are some "territory" issues with the various Slots/Racetracks including Windsor Raceway. The only other Casino in Ontario with a sports book, Casino Niagara--has already added OTB.

I think its a rather lame setup, when compared to Las Vegas sport books. It is pretty much a small restaraunt/bar with a revolving ticker(showing spreads), and some TV's. It's just a bit small, but hey, we're not in Vegas, but rather Windsor, so I suppose theres no room for complaining if you like betting sports. Myself, I'm in the poker room.

(If you like poker, I hear the Greektown Bad Beat Jackpot is over $102,000...damm)

Thanks.

I assume there is no fancy betting like in Vegas on futures like Tigers to win the '07 AL, NFL, NBA championships, etc. (I like to bet that stuff in Vegas - I had the Tigers over 78.5 wins for '06 - like they bettered that in August).

I'd like to bet the bowl games though in Windsor before going to the Motor City Bowl.

BTW, do American citizens need a passport to enter Canada? If no, will that change very soon?

No.

The passport will be required by US customs to Re-enter your own country, likely in early to mid 2008.

I was not precise in my ? about customs. The ? should have been about passing US Customs coming back home.

After a few hours in Windsor I'd like to be able to return to the states. ;-)

You were precise, but you asked if you needed a passport to enter Canada, the question is no. You only currently need one to re-enter the US if entering by air or sea. Land crossing are on the horizon, but not mandatory yet.

The land crossing portion of US-VISIT (the requirement to have a passport to enter/re-enter the U.S.) has been pushed back--implementation is not likely until mid 2009.

For certain the sports book at CW is not like those in Vegas--however, age-old laws surround gambling make single parlay sports betting illegal in pretty much every jurisdiction in North America with the exception of Nevada. Ontario is now one of only three jurisdictions allowing legal sports betting, so it's at the very least, a step in the right direction. as for the size--they worked with the space they had, which was limited--however, the design, finishes and features in the room are top-notch.

Fastcars, not to be picky, but the U.S. initiative you are referring to is the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative and not US-VISIT.

Fastcar,

curious:

Nevada, Ontario and who else have sports betting?

I always wished that sports betting was available in more locations. For me that has been a big advantage of Nevada over Detroit, Atlantic City, etc. etc.
