Two events will take place in Zussman Park this Saturday, and you are invited to attend!

The 3rd Annual Taste of Hamtramck is a free gathering, sponsored by the Hamtramck Chamber of Commerce and Hamtramck Recreation Department, from 12 noon to 6 p.m.. Local restaurants and caterers will serve food, there will be activities available for children, and entertainment will be provided throughout the day. Performances will include Polish and Bosnian dance troupes, modern jazz by John Celebi's band, "Element", modern rock by Dave Hamilton's band, and covers by Hamtramck High Teacher Tim Maher and his band, "It Doesn't Matter". Only the food costs money, but prices are always very reasonable. The tentative restaurant list includes Polish, Yemeni, Mexican, Bengali, and bar food.

Also, the Hamtramck Police Department will hold a public auction of recovered property the same day. I'm told that there will be about 100 bikes for sale, along with a few TVs, VCR and DVD players, snow blowers, and mowers. Viewing begins at noon, auction starts at 1 p.m. sharp, cash payments only.

Zussman Park is in front of City Hall, 3401 Evaline. It may be easiest to park cars in the Shoppers World parking lot, just East of Joseph Campau between Yemans and Evaline.
