SG, I thought the same thing about the comfortable shoes! Comfort = lesbian. Kath, that was priceless. My friend knows more about shoes than I could ever hope to. Wish I had the money to buy him a "comfortable" pair of Ferragamo. The tote is not a bad idea so I'm keeping that in mind.

I have to share this about my friend because it still cracks me up when I think about it. On his first serious try at weight loss he decided to try Weight Watchers. When they asked him what his weight goal was he answered "Prada". I would have loved to have seen the look on the persons face conducting that weigh in.

OK, I draw the line there.

Disco IS NOT gay!

Now Rock 'N Roll music (all types of Rock 'N Roll music) is very gay.:-)

Disco is, at its root, very gay. Naturally, almost subversively, it was assimilated into mainstream culture when everyone saw how much fun the seventies gays were having bumping booties and bootie bumping.

No song demonstrates this better than YMCA by the Village People. This is a song written by gay men, performed by gay men, about gay men cruising for sex and yet somehow it gets played by nearly every wedding. Our very own downtown Boll Family YMCA has a statue in front of it of children doing the YMCA dance. Children!

Bottom line, while fun for everyone, if you think disco isn't gay, you just aren't paying attention. Case closed.

Eh, everyone is entitled to their opinions.

So, we're saying Disco makes you happy. :-)

I think Techno is "gay" as well.

My sister is always amazed by the glee the most uber-hetero males take in dancing to YMCA. Is there something there?

Wow, I can't believe people would confuse some groovy Disco with Ballet.

-Disco:

-Ballet

Then again, with all the unhip cats on here, maybe I can. :-)

I am a queer male and I've been lurking and posting to detroityes for years.

I'd like to note that I will be DJing at a queer monthly party/club night downtown starting in July at Oslo. You can count on the two genres of music listed above (real disco, real techno) will be blasting out of the speakerboxes!

Of course non-queers are welcome. I'll have more details later. Do you guys go to the guerilla bar?

So, what's up with the fact that I heard a long time ago that gay men do not like lesbians AT ALL? Myth?

I think that is a myth.

Although there are separations between gay men and lesbians (different club nights/clubs/circles of friends... this all makes sense because the two sets of people are looking for two different things), I have lesbian friends and enjoy being around queers/non-queers of all types.

There is a stereotype of the "crazy dyke" but really just as many dykes are crazy as straight guys and girls or gay guys.
