If you find out let me know. As a single person in my (ahem) mid 40's I've found it tough to meet other singles in my age range. Detroits got a lot of nice clubs but that scene just doesn't do it for me anymore. Too many younguns' with their chests stuck out looking for trouble.

Check out the Detroit Synergy events, they just had a pub crawl this last Saturday.

It is hard to determine which clubs cater to whom. I'd be interested in hearing others' experiences.

I would say "Floods" but its lost its swagger, I believe Norm Tally still spins there on Thursday nites. Is Lola's still open? I have to say that most of the establishments that I cater too at times are house music themed. You rarely see the young crowd there its usually in the age range of 34 and up. The thing about house parties is that you never really have to worry about a fight breaking out with a bunch of youngsters.

Most younger people go to the night clubs, casinos, coffee shops, festivals, cafes, gyms, and the like.

A little bit older crowd can often be found at singles events (although some younger people go too). There are many singles groups that put on these events, and coordinate meetings. Many are in the suburbs, but there are a few that are also in the city (I have heard of no city exclusive ones). You can find these on Facebook, My Space, or many church or local papers.

Pool Halls, bowling alleys, and the YMCA also often have leagues too, which are also a great place.

DYES also has a social club that meets infrequently on Thursdays. There was also talk of a movie social group recently. Check the Connect section of this site. If nothing is going on, feel free to make a suggestion.

I like the single life.....Sorry, Mom!

But if I was going to get serious, I'd start with Vicente's on a Friday or Saturday. That place can get jumping, the higher prices probably deter the young/fabulous/broke crowd, and there are a wide variety of other establishments (RIP Rhino Club) within walking distance.....Proof, Town Pump, and Cliff Bell's all come to mind.

For a single young oldhead with less-than-serious intentions, Detroit Beer Company/Small Plates around closing time would seem a good bet.

Unless you guys are gay, I think you're fishing in the wrong pool. The male to female ratio on this board is not in your favor.

Ndavies - Maybe, but I'm not sure. Most here have assumed me to be male, based on responses to my posts (it wasn't really relevant at the time and did not bother me) but I'm not. We may be making some other incorrect assumptions.

Do you look much younger than youre age Bobby? Find a spot where you like the music, remain aloof, ignore the women the first several visits and they will talk approach you.

If only Manrooter were here he would have a great time at this sausage-fest. Gee, he sure is missed with his quick wit.
