I would have graduated from HH Dow High in Midland back in the 80's IF I had not dropped out. I was a terrible rebel back then with wanderlust and I had a chance to to backpack through Europe so I left in the middle of my senior year. Got my GED years later and dropped out of college a few times as well, never finished getting a degree. I'm fortunately smart and industrious enough to have done decent without a higher education. Still think I might finish one of these days - hell, I'm walking distance to Wayne State now. |

Should have been Denby '59, but we moved to California in my junior year. Ended up going to two more high schools out there before graduating in '59. |

Warren Woods/Tower.....Class of '78. The last year for the 18 year old drinking age. Drank legally for 8 months, and then was stripped of my rights for two years....the injustice of it all will never be forgotten. |

Rock.... .....sorry it took so long to get back to you on this. Yes, before Ferndale High School was built in 1958(?), the high school was Lincoln High on the northeast corner of 9 Mile and Livernois. Great gym floor. Real hardwood and sprung no less. Lincoln was torn down in the mid-'70's due to structural problems. The building literally split in half where the gym/swimming pool addition joined the original building. When I was back there in '93, the parking lot across the street still had a "Lincoln High School Staff and Student Parking" sign. When I attended FHS, it was a bit of a dissapointment. Not because there was anything wrong with the school, but because I always wanted to hang out at the soda shop across the street from Lincoln like the big kids. By the time I got there for Junior High, it had closed. My first two years at FHS, the Eastern Michigan League consisted of Ferndale, Hazel Park, RO Kimball, Birmingham Seaholm, and Port Huron. In '64, it became the Southeastern Michigan League, and Port Huron left to cut down travel. Wish they'd have dropped ROK instead. We could beat Port Huron in football, Kimball was a different story...... |
