I'm pretty sure MINE is near-accurate, though. Not sure if it was WDET's spring or fall fundraiser when I met the station engineer's wife over the phone, answering randomly as she called in with her pledge. You can all blame HER, heh. My notes say December, but I may have taken the hingepoint from the date HERE...I don't recall any phone drive in December 2003! Now I'm all confused...if I can find, in the archives, that one thread where Zulu_warrior said the line, "your silence about race places you amongst the worst of them" or something quite like it, I could tag the date...because I clearly remember jumping in with a boatload of naiveté and having some of it dumped overboard that day! It was like wasting one's virginity, say, in a parking lot...even IF they made your favorite pizza. Cheers, it is going to be one of those days. AIW, I won't be on the marathon course tomorrow, I couldn't collect enough to pay the entrance fee...for the first time in eleven years. Between a few clients who are not paying, and some technology issues with my laptop keeping me from connecting with my test gear and the remote controls I program to make folk's hifi experiences better...I've been screwed for a while. I've got two pennies to my name, and I FOUND those outside after a meeting with Fnemecek yesterday! Sometimes it sucks living this close to the edge. (but found pennies are ALWAYS a good omen) Cheers |

Sorry Sir, It was directed at our Windsor friend, a really bad inside joke. This is everyone's only warning. You see...I used to be a regular at the Mother's Pizza on Oulette Street in downtown Windsor. They DID make an awesome pizza, but the bulk of us were there because the drinking age was a few years lower than in good, old Puritanical-American Detroit. I was there for the Brador, Molson's old premium brand that I couldn't get in the States. WE got a bonus since one of my buddies discovered that the 0 from the phone book was precisely the same font and size as our driver's license expiration date. So he'd forge our way into drinking, in my case, when I had 'just' turned sixteen. It got to be a regular affair...Mother's, then down to the Island View Tavern, maybe the lounge at the Holiday Inn...and one very special night at Antonelli's Radio City Tavern at the request of a flutist I'd met through work, a tall, energetic fellow named Alexander Zonjic. Who's wife bought our drinks all night after the bouncer almost proved his title on us discovering our ID forgery! One fine Friday night, the last free weekend before the start of my high school Senior year... (post edited for length, bandwidth conservation, and lunch digestion protection) ...in the back of her parent's Subaru station wagon. So, at one point when they were tearing down the building...AIW offered to get a Historic Marker, um, erected, in her honor. Because that's where I gave MINE away... Cheers... My goodness! A bit too much information for this old girl. ;-o However, in keeping with the romantic theme, Hubby and I spent an oh-so-lovely Sweetest Day today at Motown and then lunch at Roma Cafe. Made mucho googly eyes at each other over this most excellent fare. *lovesick sigh* |

Oh Lodgedodger, I was hoping to avoid that, yet still give Jjaba his due...sorry! I warned you in the first sentence, though. If I hadn't been running around with my fabulous Downtown Tri-fecta myself (I'll start a thread for our TODAY stories when I'm done tonight or perhaps tomorrow, I'm late for the NEXT thing now), I'd have been in my loft about seventy five feet from Roma's door. Since I was running in and out, we probably crossed paths today! Who'd you have wait on you there? Did you get his name?! It WAS a special, and very busy day downtown, from the Market outward...I really couldn't believe the traffic! Lotsa smiles, though, lotsa goodness in the City this sunny Saturday. Cheers! |

Awww, I was teasing, Dearie. In case you haven't noticed, I live vicariously through you folks. Perhaps you can start a Virginity Lost thread... At any rate, there are these cool-looking lofts on Russell. Told Hubby it would be dangerous to live there...with Roma Cafe so close. My GOD, the gravy in that place makes everything so right in the world. I don't know if I want a house (love to garden) or do the supremely urban thing by living in a loft. |

Gannon, the whole block is now a big parking lot... No worries about tomorrow. I'll catch you next year. Tomorrow I'm acutally on an all day panel at the Art Gallery of Windsor. A current affairs news show here in Ontario called "The Agenda with Steve Pakin" is coming to Windsor and I'm a selected guest on the Sunday panel. I'll be missing the Marathon too... One of my favorite parts is to be down there early to catch the Kenyan/Ethiopean runners as they fly by minutes ahead of the rest of the pack... |

jjaba met a guy who knows everything. He decided to learn to sky dive and so he read the books. On the day of flight, he packed his equipment like he read in the book and flew up. The pilot watched him drop from the airplane at 10,000 feet. Our guy suddenly forgot what to do and pulled out his book. "Pull rip cord on left." So he did just that and nothing opened. "Pull rip cord on right." Oy, still nothing. He is dropping like a rock. All of a sudden comes a guy shooting right up into the sky, who yells at our sky diver, "KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FIXING A BOILER?" jjaba. |

Well Jjaba It went like this "I had time so I went". Had to drop stuff off at Cubs. One such trip to the garden by the potato chip factory ended up with me getting a tour of the west side as it goes from Woodward to Five Points, I WISH THE JEEP WAS ON THE ROAD, But I,ll take the Ford Ranger [after I take the battery outta the JEEP" The great Man named "CUB" proved that the eastside ain,t so bad.But I,d rather deal with the Westside places with names like Evergreen, Livernois, Myers ETC. Kinda like a WESTSIDE BOY IN IRAN. |

Westside boy in Iran did ok because he's tight with the Detroit Persians. We've been knowing Middle-Easterners a long time in Detroit. But when you start talking Chalmers, Cadillac Blvd., Dequindre, Mack, or Connors you leave jjaba in the dust. Schoolcraft, Wyoming, Joy Road, now you're talking what we know. Saalam, jjaba. |
