There's definitely a difference between the two - house is a lot more soulful, with more of a live feel to it. Trance has a cold, pure electronic feel, very euro. I love house. Trance, not so much.

What is the technical difference? Isn't the feel dictated by BPM (beats per minute)?

For those that are interested...

PS: I'm not affiliated with them, I just like what they do.

House Heads Stand for the House National Anthem.....

IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS JACK ,
AND JACK HAD A GROOVE , AND FROM THIS GROOVE CAME THE GROOVE OF ALL GROOVES,
AND WHILE ONE DAY VICIOUSLY THROW'N DOWN ON HIS BOX, JACK BOLDLY DECLARED ,
LET THERE BE HOUSE ,
AND HOUSE MUSIC WAS BORN,

I AM ,YOU SEE , I AM THE CREATOR,
AND THIS IS MY HOUSE ,
AND IN MY HOUSE THERE IS ONLY HOUSE MUSIC,
BUT, I AM NOT SO SELFISH BECAUSE ONCE YOU ENTER MY HOUSE IT THEN BECOMES OUR HOUSE ,
AND OUR HOUSE MUSIC !

AND YOU SEE , NO ONE MAN OWNS HOUSE ,
BECAUSE HOUSE MUSIC IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE, SPOKEN AND UNDERSTOOD BY ALL , YOU SEE,
HOUSE IS A FEELING THAT NO ONE CAN UNDERSTAND, REALLY, UNLESS YOU DEEP INTO THE VIBE OF HOUSE MUSIC , HOUSE IS AN UNCONTROLLABLE DESIRE TO JACK YOUR BODY, AND AS I TOLD YOU BEFORE ,

THIS IS OUR HOUSE , AND OUR HOUSE MUSIC , AND IN EVERY HOUSE , YOU UNDERSTAND , THERE IS A KEEPER , AND IN THIS HOUSE THE KEEPER IS JACK, NOW SOME OF YOU MIGHT WONDER, WHO IS JACK, AND WHAT IS IT THAT JACK DOES ?

JACK IS THE ONE WHO GIVES YOU POWER TO JACK YOUR BODY!
JACK IS THE ONE WHO GIVES YOU THE POWER TO DO THE SNAKE ,
JACK IS THE ONE WHO GIVES YOU THE KEY TO THE WIGGLY WORM
JACK IS THE ONE THAT LEARNS YOU HOW TO WALK YOUR BODY ,
JACK IS THE ONE THAT CAN BRING NATIONS AND NATIONS OF ALL JACKERS TOGETHER UNDER ONE HOUSE ,
YOU MAY BE BLACK , YOU MAY BE WHITE ,

YOU MAY BE JEW OR GENTILE, IT DONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR HOUSE ,

AND THIS IS FRESH!

'JACKS HOUSE', by JACK aka FINGERS!

Big Fan of Disco, Chicago House, 80's Progressive House, and Early Morning NYC 'Sleazy House'!

HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG!

House Heads remain standing for the Statement for our Creed:

With the love I have inside of me
We can turn this world around
We can live through all eternity
And we'll never touch the ground
We'll take a chance to ride upon a star
To a place that's far away
The light of love will shine on us
Forever and a day

{Chorus}:
Bustin' up on a cloud, shout out loud
You're the one for me
With your love by my side
The world will be mine
You're the one for me

With this true love I found
Picks my feet up off the ground to fly away
With this true love my dear
Takes away my every fear, don't go away

You just don't know what you did to me
But I'm not the same
Since you gave me love
That's sheltered from the rain
You just don't know how you make me feel
Your sweet lovin' girl, is so unreal
I've got love, love desire
From your lovin' my soul's on fire

{Chorus}

I'm ridin' on a cloud
Got to shout it out loud, you're my all
Baby, hold on tight
For the rest of my life, don't let me fall

Hey, this might be a little bit too late, but I will be playing some house classics and acid house (as well as techno, italo-disco, industrial, and new wave) tonight at Fierce Hot Mess (this is at Oslo, Oct. 3rd).

See the Fierce Hot Mess thread in the >Connect section for details.

Zulu, D-Train, 'You're the one for me' can bang a set any night!

Follow that up with some Gino Soccio's, 'Dancer' and Sharon Redd's 'Beat the Street' and I'm on the Dance floor all night!

Those of you that remember the days of the old Leland House Days, would remember this early morning gem!.... Dr.Buzzards Original Savannah Band's, 'Cherchez Lafemme'?

I can get deeper!

Househead, reporting for duty.

House, deep house, soulful house, tribal house, progressive house, DETROIT techno, trance, atmospheric drum & bass, hard d&b....I love 'em all.

I was a child of the Music Institute back in the day, at The Warehouse in Rivertown (when they first dropped the needle on Inner City "Good Life"...), and re-discovered that same vibe years later with "Body & Soul" parties in NYC, Danny T's "Be Yourself" parties at Vinyl, early PS1 parties, Shelter, 718 Sessions, etc.

My short-list of house heroes:
Danny Tenaglia (none higher, IMO, even tho he went all Europe on us)
Francois K
Danny Krivit
Frankie Bones
Deep Dish
Nickodemus

I only get back to the D once or twice a year, and would love to know where the house scene is there these days.

If anyone is planning a visit to NYC and looking for a great house scene, you can't go wrong with these parties:
