I know a guy that's moving into the Eastlake Apartments in St Clair Shores (10 and Harper). Any pointers to the singles scene there? He's a working professional (IT) in his mid-30s. |

I heard that the bars on the Nautical Mile are big singles hang outs. |

Fanny's at the Troy Hilton and the Regal Beagle are the best singles bars that I know. But, unfortuantely, neither are in SCS. |

I heard the Shores Inn was also owned by Dennis the Loft King...I've had some good times there, for an east-side bar. Heh. Caught conversation with one fellow whose family owned some manufacturing buildings near the Capuchin Mission...and they found a Purple Gang-era Tommie gun in the boiler room, among other interesting stuff. |

Great singles scene at the Beach Grill if you are a woman with frizzed out triple-processed blond hair with bangs, or you are a guy who drives a Corvette and has a mustache and a perma blow-out. |

And yes, Susanarosa, it is way too frat guy at the Shores Inn. Unfortunately, the options are SEVERELY limited on that side of town. It beats the bar at the Logan's Roadhouse at Gratiot and 14 in Roseville. Which, believe it or not, draws a crowd. Please don't ask how I know. |

I would say that most people in the SCS either head to Mount Clemens (boo!), Grosse Pointe/Detroit with places like the Tap Room and Cadieux Cafe or Downtown. It totally depends on what your friend likes. If he likes cheesy places definitely the nautical mile or there is always Gekko's. For a Sport's bar - Gilberts. SCS used to be the old stomping grounds in high school with House of Coffee and Monty's as the best singles places but alas they are no longer Sharmaal is slightly right about Fishbones...if the right music is there like Thornetta Davis it can be o.k. |

If a dyed hair color or style was truly more than a superficial reason to go anywhere for singles, then 99.9% of all places would be off-limits! |

The best thing for having fun on the Nautical Mile is to have friends who are boat owners who like to party on their boats after hours. I have a buddy who owns a 27 foot sailboat. Sometimes a group of friends get together for dinner or drinks on the Nautical Mile, and then go out on his sailboat. It is nice just before sunset on an especially hot muggy night with a full moon. Going out watching the sunset over the Pointes and Shores (and catching a glimpse of the RenCen in the distance) with a breeze blowing is soooo therapeutic. For some reason sailing is such a stress release, don't know why (unlike powerboats). Watching the moonlit waters of the lake listening to "Celtic Twilight".... passing the d... er.. uh... I mean drinking a cool alcoholic beverage... very relaxing.... Can't get that experience in Royal Oak or Ferndale.... |

Thrice-divorced boat owners and desperate women in their late 40's/early 50's often find each other at Jacks. I know I used to park cars there. True story one of my more adventurous went home with a 40-something customer one night. I don't know what he was thinking because years of white zinfedel, cocaine, and fucking boaters had left this broad wrecked. In the words of LT, she was TOTALLY TRASHED! Anyway so this guys shows up for work the next night and we naturally wanted to know how this May -December one night stand turned out. He said things were fine until afterward when she started to cry. Apparently the "love-making" wasn't suitably romantic enough for her. Anyway our next question to him was "what did you do next." To which he answered: "I put on my pants and got out there as fast as I could!" Good times! |

Rock, Gistok, Sport, JC jes called my girlfriend an "old gray cougar". And somebody's calling out fag hags. jjaba thinks there's a lawsuit here. Old Codgers love old gray cougars. They are so appreciative. Try one on before you buy. jjaba, Westsider likes his cougars without the fish flies, thank you. And you want water, jjaba has an old clawfoot tub in the basement by the coal bin. Cougars love them. jjaba. |

I was not the so-called "playa" in question. My fear of VD is too strong to be seduced by the siren song of 50-year-old alcoholic boat slut. |

Waves on Jefferson is a cool place. Great crowd, but a bit younger as the night wears on. Fishbones has a cool bar, but the crowd is a bit more mature. Shores Inn is for frat guys and hockey players in their early 30’s. Wild Woodys on Gratiot….eh, not sure about that. You might want to avoid that shit. Too much white trash fucking around at that place. Don’t get me wrong, lotta hot girls there, but they have their share of trashy frizzed out stellas too. |

LOL... thanks for the tip Jelk! SCS has really sorta been cleaning up its' act in the last 15 years or so. Much of the dumpy looking commercial areas along Harper and Jefferson have really been upgraded in that time period. And even the "nautical" lighting and landscaping looks clean and sorta Art Deco. |
