Only they would get a kick outta that,....it does not surprise me on bit. After all....Detroit is the only city in the world that deal with crackheads, homelessness, and other derelict actions. |

Come on, don't you find it at least a little funny? It's good to see the old Statler site getting some adaptive re-use... |

Not the only city but considering the location and the touted comeback of downtown that can be seen as a major concern. |

D_stylin -- I just cannot understand your logic (never could really). So it happens elsewhere -- so what? How could that possibly matter? You know what else happens elsewhere? New buildings. Ground floor retail. Rehabilitation. New businesses opening up. People moving in to the city core. Crime statistics improving. Police doing their job. City governments being held accountable. Private landowners cleaning up their own mess and taking care of their own properties. New bars and restaurants opening. So we better not talk about any of that stuff if and when any of it actually happens in our little slice of heaven. |

Dont worry about trying to understand my logic as long as you have it set in mind that Detroit from alot of your view points is without redeemable qualities... SO don't hurt yourself in the process.... |

Nice red herring - someone points out a negative and it must mean they hate everything, right? One can acknowlege that a city has many good points while also admitting that there are serious faults. Pretending problems don't exist does nothing to help those problems get better. |

No -- he's right. I hate everything about Detroit. That's why i live here. That's why I convinced my now wife to move here from the East Coast. That's why I bought a house here. That's why I have chosen to raise my kids here. That's why I opened a business here (but my hatred has nothing to do with why we closed it 3 years later). D_stylin is pretty smart. Don't let his logic fool you (we just can't understand it - so let's not hurt ourselves trying). |

I'd hardly call Luther Haven on E. Grand Blvd. a "business." |

Dstylin has showed that he doesn't have the best grasp of logic.
quote: Yeah they have lower crime rates HOWEVER their crime is MUCH higher in numbers but the rates are lower since they have a SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER population... So of course proportionately they will seem low. Yall make it seem as if crime just barely exists in these other, better areas. Or do you all prefer to let other people do your thinking for you? Isnt ststistics a beautiful thing? Like my stats teacher said, you can make number look however you want with stats.
I don't care how many stats you run, there are few numbers that can shine our drug problems, homelessness problems, murder problems, and carjacking problems in a favorable light. |

Stay on topic. Love him or hate him, Andy's doing a nice job documenting this. Is Mr. Pieroni acting quickly enough? Will they gain access to the building before the tarp comes down? |

They'll get in. He is probaby searching for a crow-bar as we speak. I'd guess that they will be in the building by nightfall. The tarp will be down within a week. |

I have to give kudos to Andy for this bit of photo journalism (even if his posts were relentlessly downbeat and somewhat annoying back in his DYes days)... he's just documenting the goings on outside his window. His actions are the reason the tarp is now down which means that the crackheads won't be hanging out there any more. Downtown could use a few more cameras catching crimes in progress. |
