crime statistic.

This is sad, a new development opened in North Philly near Temple U called "Avenue North", the complex includes student apartments called "The Edge" some stores, restaurants, and as it's anchor the first movie theatre to operate in North Philly since the late 60's. The developer had to bankroll the movie theatre
as no chain would go in on it.

The Pearl opened on Tuesday evening, and had it's first fight Wednesday evening with one of the thugs shot a kid outside of the theatre. Needless to say the theatre was shut down in it's 2nd day. Not good.................

A further insult being the name, it's called The Pearl as homage to a theatre that was nearby that used to be a stop on the "Chitlin Circuit" and it featured some of the great talents of Black America.

Stay tuned..........

Ken,

Take a lesson from Detroit, don't let one bad event spoil a good thing.

It ain't the theater that is causing the problem!

They should be even MORE determined to get this thing flying...if at least for that homage to the past...now that they know ol' Murphy is on their tail.

That really is too bad. As for the thugs, they are hurting their community. These thugs are really just hurting race relations even more in urban america. They're doing a good job of scaring moneyed people away from the city. By doing this they scare away millions of tax dollars that could be spent in their neighborhood fixing schools, roads, parks, and clinics. But no, they're too selfish and stupid to think of that. There should be community leaders denouncing this and encouraging people to rat these thugs out. If everyone knew what effect murderers had on their communities, I have a feeling Police would bring in a lot more criminals. Too bad though.
