Carter, Barron, Nash & Harris? Whoa!! I don't get why Harris is even involved, but who cares? This absolutely has to be great. Lewis Nash is The Man. |

I saw Medeski, Martin & Wood at Bonnaroo last year and they put on a great show. This line-up, coupled with some of the announced acts for Tastefest Cityfest (e.g. Spoon, Yo La Tengo, Weird Al) should make for an awesome summer for free, live music in Detroit! |

Faruq Z. Bey and the North Woods Improvisers Great band!!!! The best on the list in my opinion... They are playing at the Modern Art Museum on Woodward this friday at 8. The jazz fest line looks ok...not enough avant-garde players.... |

I saw Medeski, Martin, and Wood at the Jazzfest '05 and they put on a great show and a great stage under compuware in campus martius. I have to admit that they are one of my favorites, they put a serious twist on New Orleans (explorative)Jazz. With the addition of John Scofield it's sure to be really good. There are some other acts on the list that I'm going to check out for sure. Dave Brubeck and Herbie Hancock that's a stellar lineup. |
