Well, I have a thought: in our architecture office we use all sorts of letters to designate different parts of master plans that we draw, and then reference those letters in a key with more information. The only letter we don't use is an 'I.' I think that it is because it is just basically too associated with a number '1' or Roman Numeral. |

Charlotte's right: I and O sections are not used because of possible confusion with the numbers 1 and 0. |
