When you work out doors for a living, you really keep an eye to the sky: http://i148.photobucket.com/al bums/s22/bulletmagnet69/kodakg roup042907127.jpg?t=1178063677 http://i148.photobucket.com/al bums/s22/bulletmagnet69/kodakg roup042907123.jpg?t=1178063707 http://i148.photobucket.com/al bums/s22/bulletmagnet69/kodakg roup042907121.jpg?t=1178063743 http://i148.photobucket.com/al bums/s22/bulletmagnet69/kodakg roup042907042.jpg?t=1178063782 http://i148.photobucket.com/al bums/s22/bulletmagnet69/kodakg roup042907023.jpg?t=1178063813 Any one else get soaked? |

I loved today. A weatherman's dream weather. Since I was expecting this type of weather, I ad an umbrella. I got caugt in that gusher that came through NE Detroit though. Downtown Detroit had pea-sized hail and very heavy rain and some pretty dangerous lightning at times. The worst remained east of US-23 and South of M-59. We were under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8PM but cancelled early since all the storms moved out and there wasn't signs of redevelopment. They were pretty elevated. Adrian County and Toledo had tornadic storms come through. Fortunately, the worst we saw was lightning, torrential rains and hail. Wayne County was under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning 2 or 3 times today. The further west of the city you headed, the atmosphere become more stable in the Upper Levels of the Atmosphere and a lot of subsidence (downdrafts and evaporation of water vapor), also known as a cap. SW Lower didn't see much action today as they could of because of it, which is why the Far West Side of the area didn't see too much action. Last night, I'm sure folks downriver woke up to Thunderstorms, although everyone N of I-94 Mostly just saw torrential rains that woke me up. It left up to an inch of water in spots, not including today's 3/4 to an inch of water. This is actually welcoming rain for MI as a whole though because it's been so dry here lately (30 degree dewpoints) combined with May Sunshine evaporating the little mositure we have bringing about a Fire risk (REd Flag Warning in Northern Lower). Hey, you mind if I put those pics in my weather blog? Little more than a brief shower and lots of clouds on the horizon in Ann Arbor. But we got lots of rain and lightning last night. |

I just LOVE the sound of rain on my loft roof...but right around four o'clock and then again a half-hour or so later we got hit with some hellacious hail...and my wee wet symphony turned into a raging arrhythmic tap-dance competition. Neighbor grabbed a nearly one-inch chunk to put in the freezer because neither of us thought anyone would believe it. Hour or so later there were STILL chunks of ice on the ground under the bushes...hope nobody had trouble driving in all this stuff. I cannot remember the last time I was in a hailstorm. |

"I cannot remember the last time I was in a hailstorm." Last Summer on the eastside, That Stationary storm that turned I-75 and 6 Mile into a river eventually moved east quick enough to dump some Nickel Sized hail on the Eastside of the city before it weakened and the sun started shining. That was the 1 of the 2 only hailstorms I've experienced. |

Thanks for the pictures. I totally enjoyed today, lots of awesome T-storms. Drove home at around 5:30 pm on Grand River into downtown in heavy rains and lightning. People think I'm weird for liking these kind of weather conditions, me - I think sun, blue skies and 90 degrees temperatures are totally over-rated. Bring on the thunderstorms (and yes, I don't have any little league baseball games to go to) |

The last few Spring nights, which is typical, SE Michigan has been experiencing those typical Evening Spring Time showers after a beautiful day. WE had those Saturday Evening and Sunday Evening and Monday Evening. the ones that came through about Midnight Sunday Night even had thunder with it. The winds were rather gusty on the east side and it did rain a bit, but was one heck of a light show from storms over DD. |

"I think sun, blue skies and 90 degrees temperatures are totally over-rated. Bring on the thunderstorms" Not so fast. To explain in a nutshell, you need that type of weather for these types of storms to develop. |

I scream every time the bimbos on Fox2 proclaim their pleasure of a picture-perfect sunny, warm summer day (day after day in the summertime, it gets sooo boring) and never appreciate the beauty of an awesome weather system with thunder and lightning. |

I don't patronize FOX2. They straddle the fence too much. I like stormy weather too, but I prefer of mixed bag of the Stormy and the Sunny. OOOH!, should of mentioned. As fair warning, I wouldn't patronize Hodak and Company too much for the weather if I were y'all. All they do is copy and paste from the National Weather Service out in Pontiac. Quinn, I'm sorry this happened to you. But, don't blame it on the weather, blame the jackasses who even in bad weather conditions can't adjust their driving to the conditions, and the jackasses who always have to tailgate no matter what. Plenty of those on our roads around here. |

Couldn't of said it better Ghetto-butterfly. I swear If I had a penny for how many times I've seen people act AND drive ignorant in dangerous weather, I'd be rich and not even know y'all right about now. |

Urbanize- I don't know if we ever finished our last weather conversation. I'm curious the tools/websites you like to use. Also, do you have a weather page/weather station we can access? Lastly, are you a certified storm spotter and did you go to school for meterology? You can be the unofficial weather guy here. Fine by me! I love readin up on this stuff. And I will have to agree about the warm and sunny getting old. I get that from about this time of year until october here in the bay area. I know a lot of people would like it, but I honestly wish we'd get a thunderstorm or a cloudy day once in awhile. It is nice to mix it up. Makes you appreciate everything that much more. I miss those midwestern thunderstorms. Guess maybe it is just one of those things you associate with growing up way back when and don't realize you miss until you no longer have it, and hope you get it when you get the chance to go back |
