Mexicantown is a blast. Don't wear sandals, large amounts of broken glass on the street. |

Nothing, it's become a holiday to sell beer. Kinda like St. Patrick's day...a bigger deal here than in the country that of its' origin. Perhaps righties will delight in the idea that it celebrates the defeat of the FRENCH occupiers at Puebla...ummm... but on second thought, it celebrates the defeat of white european invaders by brown people.. Never mind! |

Is the Kentucky Derby usually on Cinco de Mayo? I think the universe will explode when these two holidays meet this Saturday. I'm staying indoors. |

If the universe doesn't explode on Saturday check out the parade on Six-o de Mayo. The parade starts at Patton Park at High Noon and works its way along Vernor Hwy until it reaches Clark Park. After the parade there will be all sorts of activities including food and entertainment. |

Barnesfoto, what's wrong with occasions? Anyway, Mexicantown is very crowded on this date. Went down there with some classmates from Detroit Mercy before on this date, and there are like one hour or two hour waits to be seated at a restaurant. Since it is on a Saturday, expect waits, or just eat ahead and go down there for drinks! Sure beats going to the strip mall 'Mexican' restaurant. |

In honor, Mexican food. By the way, out of it as I am, why is this day celebrated? |

it would be mojitos instead of mint juleps and i would suggest not driving down vernor if you can help it, unless you wanna get caught up in the craziest bumper to bumper traffic jam ever...which can actually be quite entertaining... |

While not on Vernor I would suggest getting a table outside at Los Galanes for a few drinks and enjoy the activities. |

Yeah, definitely drive down there before dark and then park. It is difficult to move your vehicle once the crowds pick up. |

Mexicantown is where it's at! I was at Xochi's last year, and spent most of it in the parking having a lovely time. I'll have to suck it up this year and deal with South Beach. |

We are going to head down to Nuevo Laredo, score a couple of 8 balls and head out to "Boys Town" to catch the Donkey Show. |
