Ramada is no longer Ramada. Now its just the Leland. And NOT a place you would want tourists or conventioneers to stay

Is that an actual hotel? I was always under the impression it was more of a residence for long-term tenants.

No, it's an actual hotel. It has a beautiful lobby and I believe a website. I don't think it's spoke upon much though because of it's area.

Here's the review page for it on AOL Citysearch

http://detroit.citysearch.com/profile/5219066/?brand=smx_hotel-nc

It's an hotel, but you're right, it appears to be an housing building for young kids.

I would consider the Shorecrest out of the CBD. It is east of 375. If you want to include it, you should also include the Motor City Casino hotel.

IF these will be referenced by visitors, then by all means if it doesn't double the cab fare it should be included.

Three bucks'll get you to and from Corktown, Eastern Market, Midtown, Brush Park, Jefferson east to Belle Isle and west to Rancho Delrayo...yeah, I'd put 'em on a list with disclaimer about the lack of easy walk-ability.

There are NOT too many, and we could perk the B&Bs in Brush Park and Corktown in the process. Are there any Bed and Breakfasts operating in Indian Village yet?! Should be.

Anyone ever do a survey of B&Bs in this town?! Some folk will only travel that way. H-m-m-n-n, another storyline idea...if it hasn't already been done.

We still have a Euro-style hostel operating, too? It's been a while since anyone mentioned that one that Sean Harrington ran above the Town Pump...I can only guess that it's gone now. Forgive me if I'm a decade or MORE out of date, at one time we met the best Euro travellers hanging at the Town Pump...in the early days before it got trendy-busy.

Cheers!

I was looking for SHorecrest as outside the CBD too... I suppose we all have different ways of dividing up the City.

Thanks for the input. Yes, including the Shorecrest in the CBD but not Motor City Casino is kind of arbitrary. My thinking was that Shorecrest is so very close to the Rencen and the people mover - even though just past the I-375 split - that it should be included based on ease of walkability. Didn't feel that way about Motor City, although it's not so far that you couldn't or wouldn't walk it. Just feels... farther.

Anyone know how many rooms the Viking Motel has? Missed that one.

Also forgot about the new B abd B in Brush Park. Anyone remember the name or how many rooms it has? That's the one on Winder, right?

Anyone have any idea what kind of impact that new rooms might have on the convention trade, if any?

That's the one mentioned on the list as the The Park Avenue. It's still there.

PS Anyone know if there's still a possibility of a hotel at Ford Field?

One self-serving bump...
