On DY, who was the first poster? Who were the early pioneiers? Let's give props to said persons for the website known as DY, and show them some love... |

Yeah, N, I was going to say Supergay has to find a phone booth to effect a costume change and take up the Manrooter mantle. Thanks Pam, I defer to an entire army of folk who were here at least two to three years before I ever heard of the place. Ndavies is one of 'em. Histeric, Fury13. Perhaps even Skulker. I'm a newbie compared to these folk. I just can't stfu. |

I'm in no way a pioneer -- it seems like the forum had been going for a year or so before I finally checked it out (though I loved the ruins site from early on). But I do remember the old board (before registration was required). I've always been somewhat of a lurker, but still pretty OG. There are a lot of names from back then of folks who don't seem to be around anymore. Skipper, for one, and ISLD come to mind. Rasputin was there early, though he seems to be MIA these days. I remember when Rasputin and Sport fell in love with each other (only to break up later). I remember the one time I met some folks from the forum, I introduced myself by my actual name (which happens to be Brian). Brian was also the name of a particularly divisive forumer, and people thought I was HIM for a moment. That was fun. This hasn't happened for a long time, but occasionally we'd be in Detroit and I'd run across somebody who was a poster here and we'd figure it out. My wife would get confused -- "How do you know that person?" -- and I'd have to cop to having internet friends. Good times.... |

I am relatively long in the tooth on this forum. I once used the wayback website to search old forum pages for my first post (It is harder than it should be as that site doesn't handle archived frames very well). The earliest post I could find where I used the nom de forum "Rustic" was a thread where I believe Lowell, jjaba, histeric, detroitstylin and hamtramacksteve took part. I don't think that was my first post as Rustic tho. I had posted irregularly prior to that using various names before that but I'm pretty sure those guys all posted before me on this forum. There are others too. |

When I started lurking about five years ago, there was a poster called Townie who was wittier than average. Also, about two years ago, we had a thoughtful and articulate poster named English. |

For dates after 10-2003 it is correct. Most of the old timers have the same date. 10-2003. Registration was not required in the early days. Even after registration was required, there was a server crash. The date of registration for the old timers was reset in october 2003. I know I had been posting for years before that. |

I think I first popped up around 1999. I posted as Andrew then. There was another poster who was active at the time, and went by Andy Avery. People would often get us confused, so my username switched to Andrew In Windsor. Being lazy as I am, I got sick of typing it, and it became simply AIW. Back then I remeber jjaba, velma, gistok, ndavies, histeric and others. However it was a much different place. I also remember frequest postings by the brothers from St. Louis. I think many of the oldtimers are still around, but as Atl_runner said above, most are too busy these days. |

Even some recent posters have disappeared... Ilovedetroit and his nemesis Metrodetroitguy seem to have disappeared. And what happened to Merchantgander? Stlgasm hasn't posted here in a long time. And of course we all "miss" the shortlived "supposed" poet laureate Mellodrama since the last mayoral election (tee-hee)... and Rasputin and Brian. |

I know that some folks got booted for violating the rules. That youngster NEO got booted for threatening someone. But he was just a kid, and he still come to the Detroit Theatre Tours every August. He's really kinda "gothic", but in a harmless sort of way, and quite knowledgeable and smart for his age (16 as of last year). |
