Who's got it? Someone told me Golden Bowl Chop Suey on West McNichols, but I don't think I believe her. What about that place at 8 Mile and Woodward? |

I love Chop Suey! What's with the fortune cookies, though? They don't really tell fortunes anymore, just random statements. But you can still add "in bed" to the end of them. LOL |

hadn't thought of that. thanks. Let me know if there are any good Chop Suey haunts in the UP. Probably were some Chinese railroad laborers up there back in the day. Maybe head up there after I go camping in Charlevoix. |

Hunan Garden (we always called it "Human" Garden LOL) in Houghton is pretty good. We would go there on Sundays if we didn't make last call in the dorm cafeteria. |

I'll have to agree with the Golden Bowl as being the best. I've tried many places in the Detroit area, and always end up going back there. |

Got it, "Human" Garden (hah hah, we used to use that one as well in college). Thanks for the confirmation and first post Walt. I may get some Chop Suey and head down to the River Walk tonight! |

really? i've always been wary of Golden Hill even though it's very close to where i live. it just looks scary in there... then again, the place i am about to recommend is old as hell and run-down, but run by nice people and has great "Americanized" Chinese: Lotus Gardens on W. 7 Mile between Meyers and Outer Dr. it's right near my grandma's so it's been my family's Chinese spot of choice for as long as i can remember. and you get free wing dings! LOL |

Of course, Polish Chop Suey is the best because they invented the Detroit version of Chop Suey. |

Thats great! my Polish grandmother used to make her version of chop suey w/ venison. As far as the Golden Hill in Hamtramck it might not look the best but the food is great! It kinda has that alley in Shanghi feel. I used to be an Eastsider and would always go to Peking villa but in my opinion Golden Hill is better. Trust me on the veggie fried rice it the best! Chop Suey too! |

Gotta agree with Gtat. I've never had the chop suey at Canton Inn, but everything else is great at this family-run restaurant. Check out the shrimp in lobster sauce. Mmmmmmm |

I can't tell you were the good stuff is, but steer clear from Ho-Ho's on Vernor in the city's Southwest. Blech. New China One on Woodward and the Blvd. in New Center is surprisingly good. Doesn't look like much, but trust me. Never had its chop suey, though. Most of the time, though, I have to venture into suburbia for good Chinese food. Good Thai places here, though. |
