The Woodward/Campus Martius area used to look really nice at night with Chase Tower all lit up. The last couple times I've been downtown at night it has been dark. Wouldn't you think a bank could afford to spend a little money on electricity?

On another note, whoever is responsible for turning on the red ball atop the Penobscott is fairly forgetful too.

The bank doesn't own it anymore.

Hmmm.... originally they (NBD) occupied all 14 floors, now they're down to only 8.... no wonder they wanted to sell the building... they're only using up about half of it now.

It sounds kinda funny calling that building a tower, doesn't it? It's so squat. One would hardly have called the old GM Headquarters a tower!

It's 7 meters taller than the Leaning Tower of Pisa, so maybe it actually *does* qualify as a tower?

Just because it is the same height does not make it a tower.

Maybe the lights are off to prevent the moths & fishflys from swarming... :-)

Let's see we have the Chase TOWER next to the Buhl, Guardian and Penobscot BUILDINGS...

So now there are 5 major "towers" in Detroit... the Comerica Tower, the Book Tower, the Broderick Tower, the Cadillac Tower and the Chase Tower...

Ooooooookay!! :-)

Yes Psip, we're talking about the Cheese Grater... aka Chase Tower.

Also, I always thought that the Pisa "Campanile" was taller!

public lighting probably controls those lights, did ne one call them to let them know they're out? although the anti fish fly idea makes sense.
