This posting below is true. In America and especially Michigan, we communicate with others through our cars. I'm now 42, but even at Seaholm High school from 1980-1983, I was odd for riding my bike. Cars don't help us individually or collectively. ""suburbs have instilled a deep and abiding fear in people. the public realm is something to be avoided and traversed only with an enclosed personal vehicle. streetsmarts are not understood to be a commodity, because the public realm is not valued."" |
