I live on Marshall Street in Ferndale, and around 9:30 and 11:30 last night (Wednesday) I heard two huge explosions. Friends who live in Royal Oak heard them too. Did anyone else hear them or know anything about what they were? Definitely louder than fireworks or a gunshot.

I heard them in Hazel Park. Sounded like Municipal Fireworks.

I heard one of them from Royal Oak. Sounded like a big boom - low and rumbling.

If it wasn't fireworks, we probably would have heard about it though.

What other type of response did you expect from your post? Fireworks from your bedroom? Sheesh - don't post it if you don't want it commented on.

Snapdragon, welcome to DY. We live on W Troy and Allen and heard it as well. We got out of the house to have a look, but saw nothing. I dont think fireworks was the reason, but I dont know what else it could be.

I wish I was better at posting things like maps, because we need to triangulate these explosions. Are they because of Paulmcalls’ ass? Susanarosas' new toy? Or, is it Bush (and Co)? Hmmm, the mystery deepens...

I suppose we should get Steve Wilson on it. I'm sure the mayor had something to do with this. New batteries, lol.

i live at Hilton and Browning in Ferndale and have heard them. they don't sound like fireworks-more like a legit explosive device. the shockwave actually rattled the windows in my bedroom last night.

Sorry Jt1, it was one loud blast and not gun shots. Did you even hear it?
Seems kind of typical for being so close to the 4th. You hear this stuff a lot in the northern suburbs.

Well I dunno about you guys, but where I live (8MI and Woodward), they're repaving the streets cause the trucks were using it for traffic for the construction. Could be an explanation for up there too.

Occasionally over the past few years I've heard loud explosions in my neighborhood that shook my house. I haven't heard any this year but last summer an explosion just about knocked me off my feet as I walked by my kitchen window. I thought some kids were setting these explosives off on the side of my house but it turned out they were two streets over.

My big concern is for some of the older people in my neighborhood. They shock the hell out of me, they can't be good for an elderly person who might have a heart problem.

Hazel Park fireworks aren't until the 3rd and Mad Heights aren't until the 1st. So it wasn't the city fireworks display for either of those.

If this helps..

I live by 9 and Pinecrest, didn't hear anything.

I have a friend who lives just west of Woodward and North of 9. He heard 2, one around 10:00pm and another around 11:00pm.

I have a friend who lives on Cambourne, just east of Woodward. He heard both as well.

I have a friend who lives in Royal Oak, near 11 and Main, and HE and his neighbors heard it.

They both said it sounded like an explosion, and none of them believed it was Fireworks.
