I don't know about that - I will vote for whomever gets the Democratic nomination. We got two calls last night asking us about who we planned to vote for, it must be in the air. |

Oh my gawd! Here we go again with one of the most boring, stupid, insipid discussions to take place on this forum. Women don’t understand why men like to look at naked women. Men don’t understand why women don’t like them looking at naked women. Will everyone please go read Human Sexuality 101. In the mean time, if you don’t have a comment as to how this ruling will effect Detroit and the surrounding area, just put a cork in it. |

RAM Since the ruling seems to effect the entire state, I don't think we'll get a huge influx of Lansingites flocking to motown for a peek at the pink. Too bad. It would be nice to have some Lansing money headed this way for a change. BTW, are there laws against topless entertainment in Oakland County? I've always thought Pontiac could benefit from a naked dancing district. |

Ramcharger, I understand why men want to look at naked women. What I didn't understand is why men think every woman is supposed to look like, uh pick your Playmate of the Month or whatever. Anyways, party on, I am not part of the Puritan commission on Morality or anything like that! I also used to have Playboy as a customer - and be the only woman at the press OK, talk about a silent crew. But it was a hoot. |

This is one of those subjects that makes me wonder what other species must think of our behavior. Someone could create a great comedy act depicting animals mocking the behavior of those furless bipeds who always take themselves too seriously. |

I have a male friend that once was a dancer over at Danny's of Windsor and he said the women there are much more boisterous and nearly maniacal compared to guys at strip clubs. But it's all a weird surreal fantasy world at strip clubs. None of it's real. What the dancers do there is offer up a fantasy to their patrons- they sell the idea that they'll go home with them. If that illusion is gone, their power is gone. |

I recall the story of an isolated tribe in the Amazon somewhere...they had no issues with public sex or nudity, but EATING was only done in complete privacy... So you can imagine if they one day started making porn what the subject matter would be. |

Yeah, Deja Vu in Ypsi is totally nude, but dry (no pun intended, lol). You can also get in there when you're 18 because it's dry... |

Allowing this will be no good for Detroit. Name one neighborhood that improved after a booby bar moved in. And now they are pushing for lesser restraints.. This city needs young urban professionals and their families if they have one. Not the way to draw them. I agree with Carol, for cover and 7 dollar beers they need better looking women. From memory, a lot of them were lesbians.. Good ol' Starvin Marvins. What a dump that place was, they'd get those hillbilly girls in there and when they danced it looked like they were stepping over corn rows or following a roto-tiller, I could never figure out which. |

Not meaning to compare Detroit to Las Vegas, but their strip club trade has never hurt their marketing efforts. |

There is a law in Oakland county preventing gentlemen's clubs from popping up and popping tops. L. Brooks Patterson waged war on the clubs in the 70's as county prosecutor, and continues to stiff arm them today. His vagina gets sandy every time a strip clubs applies for a license in the county. There was a rather public battle with an upscale gentlemen's club that wanted to stake a claim in Auburn Hills a few years ago. |

This could hurt Windsor strip clubs where for a long time they have been able to serve alcohol while being fully nude. |

Raptor, Oakland doesn't have a law against tittie bars, no one does. Courts would strike them down as unconstitutional. What Brooks did, after a developer wanted to open an upscale titties'n'steak house up the road from the Palace, was to urge all municipalities to toughen up their zoning laws to make it hard for strip clubs to move in. He proudly parrots his county's purity while decrying (not inaccurately) the "cottage industry" that's taken hold in Detroit. |

Charlottepaul, Windsor clubs still have better beer, LOL. And those girls that used to come in from Montreal were gorgeous. But I haven't been to the Windsor Ballet in 20 years, no telling what it's like anymore. Daf (who swore off the ballet anywhere after the 17-year-old-and-the-basketball -coach incident) |

Miss_Cleo Let's see if I can offer an opinion on why men like the places. I will at least say why I liked them. I learned that all women are not interested in fulfilling their man's fantasies. Some fantasies can be off the charts and some can be simple but...if you have a girlfriend that is just not into stuff like that...the strip club is a great spot to feed certain fantasies. I just dug sexy, high heeled women even when I was a teenager and very few girls back then were into wearing lingerie (to that extent). Maybe I just happened to meet all of them. Strip club was an excellent place and if you didn't mind spending a little more money (especially when they started cracking down on them about touching in the 90's) you could get quite a few of them to perform private shows for you if you wanted at a local hotel. |

I don't want to come off as a phony, here, by just saying that I don't dig strip joints. That is true, but there was a time when I dug them plenty. I was one of those guys who looked a good bit older than he was. (On Senior Skip Day, I was the one sent into the beer store.) Therefore, right at the time when a typical, normal guy would most want to be able to get in a strip joint-- which is to say, underage-- BOOO-YAHH!!, I had no trouble getting in them. This was back when we had totally nude dancing the first time. So, I suppose that I got my fill of that little amusement fairly early in life, and I can't really say when I lost interest. BUT, to those of you (especially the ladyfolk) who are taking the more-evolved-than-thou tone, or expressing the "guys just never really grow out of being immature dickheads" stance, I would remind you that males get a lot of pleasure out of bonding with their male friends, and (similar to fellas attending sporting events together) a considerable amount of the appeal of hanging out at a strip joint may be-- oh, the irony!!-- more about the other guys than it is about the girls. |

I was in a discussion about this just yesterday. The guy likes strip clubs and didn't see a problem with them. Then I asked how he'd feel if his daughter worked at one. "I'd disown her." um, why? "Those places are sleazy." Its ok if you visit, but sleazy for your daughter to participate in the buisness? "Yes, its a double standard." There, my friends, is the mentality of your typical strip-club patron. |

Quote: " more about the other guys than it is about the girls." You're right, it was more about the commradary between buddies. It was always good for laughs. It did get old fast though. I lost interest in them many moons ago. |
