Andrew was too modest to post separate notice of his major photographic exhibition at the Art Gallery of Windsor. It was buried in Walkerpub's Manufacturing Architecture: Albert Kahn In Windsor, Art Gallery of Thread It deserves its own thread so I am posting it separately. Congrats to our "Southside" Windsor forumers AIW and Walkerpub for what promises to be a knockout show at the Art Gallery of Windsor that should be of interest to many on this forum.

Article in today's Windsor Star- too bad they didn't give props to Andrew for his hard work putting this together...: Architectural exhibit traces city's growth Marty Gervais, Windsor Star Published: Friday, September 21, 2007 Imagine a small delegation of professionals showing up at city council with plans for a convention centre, a 2,000-seat auditorium and beneath that, a unique 400-seat theatre that would accommodate local drama and concert groups. Sounds great? Sounds like something we could use? Well, that was the original plan for the former Cleary International Centre, now St. Clair Centre for the Arts. That was what 84-year-old Doug Johnson of Johnson and McWhinnie Architects envisioned when he first submitted his design in a competition to fulfil the wishes of Windsor lawyer E. A. Cleary, who had left money to the city for the building of such a centre at the end of the 1950s. http://www.canada.com/windsors tar/news/story.html?id=258624f a-e732-43a1-beab-85d840e19fca |
