If you haven't been to the Cultural Center lately, the Detroit Historical Museum is reopening this weekend (it's been closed for three weeks to install some new stuff) and free to the public.

Among the six new exhibits are "Fabulous 5: Detroit Sports Legends" and "1920s: Detroit's Building Boom."

With the Science Center extending the dead bodies exhibit again (not free by any stretch, though!), it might be worth a day trip with the family.

The DIA doesn't reopen until Thanksgiving, but you could also get in a round of mini-golf on the lawn.

God, I sound like a total Midtown slappy ...
