I came across a home he designed on the east side (GP) and now want to find out more about this man. I know he designed textiles and furnitures, but did he design many buildings?

Does anyone have any extra info not found on Google?

Patrick,

I know his work; he was known for textile design at Herman Miller. As for buildings, I think GP may be *it*. He designed many interior spaces and completed a conceptual campaign for Braniff Airlines. Thought you may enjoy...

I'd love to see a picture of the house.

Ren,

I was curious too; I found it's for sale. This site includes a drawing, floor plan, etc.

In an area where English Tudor or French Chateauesque styles are common, this is indeed a rarity in the Farms.

yes indeed. only a few influences of the modern
era in GP alive.
Yamasaki - World Trade Towers, Century Plaza Towers, Century City. Both points of terrorist interest!
This house is like a piece of vintage artwork!
also check out "Marcel Breuer's" Grosse Pointe Library - Fisher Branch. They want to rebuild or tear it down! blasphemy.

I saw an exhibition of his at the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum in NYC a few years ago.
I had no idea at the time how much work he had done.
I know I still have a flyer from the show somewhere.

Isn't it unusual to have a mid-century modern style home with a central courtyard? I like it, but it seems unique.

It is the Sultzman house, not Saltzman. Did you know them?
There were two Girard houses in Grosse Pointe. The other one was torn down. It was on Lothrop.
