Had a great night in Detroit last night. I took some photos on Grand River with great views of the skyline and the new Motor City Casino. Does anyone know what the ornate mansion in the foreground of this photo is? Who designed it and when was it built? Thanks for your help!

Of course...

This building has been discussed often on the Forum. It's the former 8th Precinct Police Station designed in 1901 by Louis Kamper. It's at the corner of Grand River and Rosa Parks Blvd.

(The server is throwing up errors when I search for the previous threads on this subject, so will try again later.)

This may have been the headquarters of the Detroit Police Dept. Youth Bureau back in the late 50's and 60's.
