Anyone know the history of this place? It is located just off of Livernois avenue( East of Livernois - almost across from a BP Gas station ) . I have a picture of it at . I know it was open in 1945 as I read about some people meeting there, and I know Funkadelic played there in 1970 but that's about it. Any help would be appreciated. |

The last name of this place was "Ernie D's Campus Ballroom". It is on Fenkell just east of Livernois, on the north side of the street. I used to drive by it quite a lot, 25 years ago or so, and I never had any sense it was open or had recently been open. It's interesting driving down the main east-west roads in that area: Lyndon, Puritan, Fenkell. You get the sense the joint was jumping once, but that it stopped jumping a long time ago. Anybody have more? |

I now know the place was run by Frantic Ernie Durham. I found tons on him but want to find out more about the building. Thanks for the info Professorscott, you've got me going in the right direction. Anyone else have any more info? |

I did search it and the conversation seemed to concentrate on Ernie D as opposed to the building. I'll give it another try though. Thanks. |
