Union Street is always nice. Do you like spicy food? Try their Dragon Eggs as an appetizer if you do. Slow's BBQ is fun, their Mac n' Cheese is absolutely fantastic. Pegasus in Greektown is a favorite of mine too, favorite dish there is the Stuffed Grape Leaves with Lemon Sauce. Enjoy!

New Parthenon is yummy and the atmosphere is a lot different (and better) on the inside than it appears from the street

Though not downtown, I cannot help but recommend Slows, its moments out side of downtown, and arguably one of the best new eateries around.

I have to second Mosaic. This is my new favorite restaurant. Not cheap, but the excellent food and ambience make it well worth it - especially for a B-day. Can't go wrong with Slows either...
