I was on ebay looking for "Detroit" things and stumbled on a cigar box from the Dime Bank. Does anyone know why a bank would be in the cigar business? Seems like a strange mix. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA PI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=1501 66256207&ssPageName=STRK:MESE: IT |

They were probably give-aways to get new customers and thank long standing customers. Banks used to give away all sorts of odd perks to help generate new customers. Piggy-banks, Sporting event tickets, toasters and other appliances. They usually had the bank logo on them. |

That's is what I thought, but in the upper left hand corner on the inside lid, it clearly shows the price of each cigar. |

The box looks like it was from the Mazer cigar company in detroit. Probably made for the bank for give aways as NDavies stated or sold at the sundries store in the buildings lobby. |
