Hi everyone, These pictures are labeled "Abandoned Detroit Hotel," but most are internal and I cannot figure out which one it is from the few outside shots, except that it obviously is not downtown. (Not from Detroit and not living in Detroit now, I am still making my best efforts to learn the lay of the land, so forgive me if it is obvious.) Does anyone have any idea what hotel this is? http://www.flickr.com/photos/j oeyharrison/sets/7215759416626 4498/ Photos 7-10 should be most helpful. I wonder if the subway tiles could be salvaged? They would look great in any modern or antique bathroom. |

Look at the pictures of the shitters (IE: bathrooms). Most seem to have subway tiles intact. Except for the one picture with a large hole in the wall. |

Yeah, what's the history behind this one? When (not if) the redevelopment whirlwind spinning through the old city reaches Cass Park, this is going to be quite a district, again. I could see the thing converted to extended-stay hotel (being so close to a venue that hosts long-term Broadway shows) usage with a number of permanent apartments and condominiums. |

I think Cass Park easily has the potential to be one of the coolest parts of the city. |

Really? Seems pretty separated from the CBD and it isn't close to Midtown/Cultural/WSU area. What might make that area become a great area if it isn't its location, location, location. Don't answer with "the great architecture of the vacant buildings," because than most of Detroit would not be in the state it is today. |

Cass Park is right in the middle of Midtown and CBD. I see this and north Corktown as the next stop taken over by the Hip kids Danny talks about. midtowns rent prices are rising this will cause students to move further out |

Thanks for the pic, Lowell. Seems like it might have been original called the Fort Wayne, and been the American in its last stint, since there is a broken sign reading "Americ" on one side. |
