This church is located at 17th and Rose near the Michigan Central Train Depot. It is in use currently by a church that began in 1998, but the cornerstone says the structure was built in 1870. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Mike! Do you happen to know when it stopped being St. Paul's? |

No, but give me a few minutes and I'll try to narrow it down for you. |

Isn't it now some kind of Mexican church? There was a faded Spanish sign on it a few years ago. |

I have it listed as St Paul German Evangelical Church in 1940, but nothing after that (the next closest source in time being 1946). |

The church is listed as St Paul's German Evangelical in the 1880 city directory. The pastor's home and a small school are next door. All of this property sold not many years ago for under 50G. |

That church is very close to the coach yard (18th Street?) for the Michigan Central, where the passenger cars were parked and serviced. Today, it's mostly concrete and weeds behind a chain-link fence. There's a tiny city park near there. |
