Moved from Detroit around 25 years ago. This is a great site. Lots of memories. What ever happend to the pools on Plymouth Rd. between Outer Drive and Bert Rd. Had good times there as a kid.

jjaba worked at Rouge Pools in the 1960s.
He swabbed the cleanest locker room in the City.
Millions of kids and families swarmed Rouge Pools, plus championship swim teams met and practiced there. They were of Olympic Pools quality when constructed.

The Rouge Pools on Plymouth Rd. are still in business they only open when the warm weather comes.

Correct name is the Brennan Pools, not the Rouge Pools. I have no idea who Brennan was, though.

Did the pools open last summer? I thought they were not going to open due to budget cuts.

That's a great place to swim laps in the summer because the lap pool wasn't crowded especially compared with the kid-filled pool... and there's often an ice cream truck parked outside the pool on hot days.
