Don't forget, the event commemorated 20 years since the 1943 race riot, in which dozens were killed, millions of dollars of property were destroyed, and the army was called in by Roosevelt. On 6-21-43, there were mobs of hundreds of white people beating black Detroiters to a pulp downtown. |

Thats what I read in my research of George Edwards original manuscript but the web sites I have seen give other dates for some reason. |
