Judging from the photos, you're waiting on more than the boat races, aren't you Bullet. GOOD MAN!

No, Urbanize, TerryH is the 40 year old who went out with a 20 year old. If anyone can find that thread, please post it.

EDIT: I found the link, but it didn't work.

I took the above photos at Water Works Park. I was trying to shoot the boats, but these race fans kept getting in the way, damn it!

Those pics of the hydros are pretty old-it's been at least 20 or years since they went without cowls on the cockpits.

Jobbienooner is the annual party on Gull Island on Lk. St. Clair, beginning on the Friday before the annual auto plant shutdowns for the 2 week model yr. changeover the first 2 weeks of July.

The "jobbies" would work a 1/2 day Friday, and leave at "noon". Then go drinking.

This NFW website will explain all:

http://www.jobbienooner.com/ho me.html

(For some reason, the software added an apparent space in the URL in "home", in preview, take that out. It'll work. Mousing over it, it looks OK.)

I was especially repulsed by the naked blonde on the trampoline with the visible tampon string. In the photo albums of 2 or 3 years ago. Maybe it was Kevin Dietz' of channel 4's daughter. He was on a rampage for a few years against the party during the ratings sweeps.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the informative linkage Jrvass. Jobbienooner looks like a fun family vacation destination. I see your a real Hydro fan Eric_w. Yes, those photos were dug from the "Bullet Vault" of past blasts. I don’t think boats now pass as close to the crowed as shown in the top photos. On the last lap in the final heat of that that race, the boats came in close enough to drench the crowed with their "Rooster Tail". Lots of fun.

The Jobbienooner is one event that I wish that I had gone to while I was in Detroit at least once. Seems just like a great annual 'summerfest' where you can get a case of beer, a boat, and basically do whatever. Hopefully this new summerfest on the river walk is as much fun...
