I'd like to think that the Cavalier series was a wake-up call to the Pistons in the sense that they can't waltz through the playoffs anymore AND that they can, if they want to, still be the most dominating team in the league with their defense. That last game just showed how brutally tough they can be on the defensive end of things. Admittedly we do have to start shooting better... MUCH better on the offensive end of things. There were some open looks in that game #7 that were inexcusable. |

FM interrupted Laimbeer just as he was picking the Heat, lol. Bill hedged...saying it would go six, then adding "I hope the Pistons win" but it was clear who he was picking in 6. Laim said Miami is "just hitting their stride" You gotta love Bill, he was not gonna give the scripted prediction...and FM made sure to cut him off. |

Chauncey always struggle when a big guard is checking him. E. Snow is a big physical guard and he played some good D on Mr. Big Shot. Chauncey is at his best when he can shot or create off the dribble - both of which was shut down by E. Snow a crafty veteran. Nice to see Lindsey get his offensive game on after blowing game 5 with the missed open jumper. Miami will be in trouble. No defensive back court. Look for Chauncey to have some big games against Gary Peyton (whom he torched in Boston couple of years ago). Erob Chicago by way of Detroit |

Erob is correct...with most of the offense running through Lebron, Snow could focus his game on the defensive end. That won't happen with Jason Williams or Wade. |

And thus the white Miami pretentiousness begins to show its ugly head: ______________________________ ____________________ LARGEST CRYBABY At 7-0, Rasheed Wallace was recently entered in the Guinness Book of World Records as earth's largest crybaby. Wallace believes the next foul he commits will be the first he has ever committed. He gets this information from the aliens who talk to him regularly, telling him to make guarantees that are 100 percent right 67 percent of the time. Wallace is one of the many reasons Wade says there is no team in the league he likes less than the Pistons. The Pistons also have a remarkable number of players with names you might find working in a hair salon. Chauncey. Tayshaun. Antonio. Lindsey. Maurice. And that's not even counting Team Hair Salon's coach -- a grown man named Flip. They're tougher than they sound, of course. But they've rarely looked as weak as Cleveland -- a lesser team than Miami -- just made them look. ______________________________ ___________________ http://www.miami.com/mld/miami herald/sports/columnists/dan_l e_batard/14644070.htm |

The Pistons shot like 34% and lost by five. Looking at the breakdown, the Pistons lost in the 1st quater, they could not come out of that hole. Pistons played horrible, Rasheed was alomost nonexistant. Miami barely beat them. I would not call this a Miami series yet, the Pistons still should have beat them... maybe not enough gas, lets see what happens Thursday |

Not panicking just yet. In a weird vein I'd almost say that the Pistons were resting up. They know they can take the Heat. I think they were still in recovery mode from the Cavalier series. Or at least I hope so and the Pistons can rebound, come back and make it a series. |

What has Laimbeer done? Nothing but compile losing records. The same problems are Cleveland at still present, except the difference is the Heat are a better team. This game with Shaq and Wade on the bench for over half the game and they still lost does not bode well. Sweep is constant thought on many minds as the Pistons offense continues its funk at 6 games and counting. |

I think we need Larry Brown back...Flip should not be totally committed to putting Rip on Wade. He has to be taken out of his rhythm...switch Rip, Hunter, and Tay on him! It took Flip until Game 4 versus Cleveland to try this theory on Lebron. I really don't care for his coaching philosophy. |

Flip is being schooled by Pat Riley in this series. One small problem that I have with Flip is that he does not know when to call timeout. This results in pivitol momements in which the Pistons fail to deliever. |

Where is the Piston's Dwyane Wade? Nobody on the team is playing consistently like this guy. What's happened to the confidence level of our Pistons. Game three was a game we could have won. However, like so many other games when the Pistons have lost, key players are having off-nights. Is Miami really playing that great of a defense or are the Pistons beating themselves? |

The commitment to defense is what got them this far. Pin the blame on Flip for focusing on one end of the floor too much. Bring it back to making the stops and THEN going on the attack. This team has never been about blowing people away by 20 points offensively. It has to be as simple as being defensive minded first and then being opportunistic on the offensive end. Win ugly if we must. So it's not great free flowing basketball to watch (remember how the national media hated Detroit's style because it is so defensive minded?) but it sure as heck has worked over the last two years. |

Thank you, Naturalsister. I just call it like I see it. From what I see now the boys march down confidently down the offensive end of the floor, MAYBE make the shot... and if they don't they seem dejected like they've failed. In years past, it wasn't about feeling down about making the shot- it was much more pride and glamor (to them at least) about making the defensive stop first. It's nothing that can't be fixed because it's still obviously still the same unit. I just hope that Flip can shelve his ego/ offensive mindedness and start the offense from our end of the floor. It's just a slight adjustment on priorities. |

Piston fans, We have are witnessing the pussification of our Detroit Pistons......from day one Flip has come in and decided that the way we do things are boring...so the pussification began. Relax on the defense and concentrate more on offense. Ben Wallace becomes expendable...Zone Defense!!<<<first signs of giving up. Live and Die by the 3....but play your starter 35 or more minutes so in round 3 they dont have the legs. Year 2 we will have made the complete transformation. The Detroit Timberwolves. We made the Finals 3 years straight its not the team its the phylosphy!!! Bounce Flip Now!!!!!!!! |

Its not only the coach, its the team players also. The starting five have been together for a three seasons now (except Rasheed), they know how to win, they too calm and they never show any sense of urgency. The pistons were fine during the season, increasing their ability and for the most part maintaining their defense. But all of a sudden in the playoffs both their offense and especially their defense flopped. They went into the playoffs a lil too cocky and now it has cost them and they cant figure a way to get back to them old selves again. The pistons need to play the way that is most comfortable to them instead of relying so much on the coaching staff. They played so much together that they almost dont need a coach. |

Too much success and accolades for this team over the last few years. They lost the desire and hunger that it takes to get back to the top. They're going to have to make some changes next year and I doubt Flip is going anywhere. The players have gotten too fat and happy with their success. I would guess that they'll at least have one new starter, maybe even two through the way of a trade(s). |

When did the Piston become an offensive juggernault those are the same players that use to go into 10 minute scoring droughts. The Pistons win when they scrape and claw for everything not settle for long 3 pointers.....and definitely not going into ZONE DEFENSE!! You've played right into the Heat's hands. You can't stop Shaq...noone can. But you let the role players get involve...which you cant afford. I apologize folks......i'm so frustrated I can go on and on. The team is a reflection for the coach. They were already soft mentally......Now physically!! |

Flip still does not know how to call a timeout. The Pistons were close in the fourth, they could have pulled off the victory. When Miami's lead increases, Flip should call timeout, and regroup the squad. He never does, and the game goes back away from him. This is why this Piston's team does not win close games they way they have in the past. |

The Big Game Coach comment was right on point. Coaching now deep into the playoffs are about maintaining momenum, changing it. Making adjustments, keeping your team focused. Last series games 6 and 7. They pushed when they could...drove to the hole got into the penalty early. Even the high flying no defense playing Suns no that. Jump shotting teams are home watching. If you watch the Pistons now they seem lost on the court. WE HAVE LOST OUR IDENTITY!! |

We have witnessed an end of a wonderful run/era...Flip Saunders should be the first to go, no problems with the team until he came along. Sure they won 10 more games than they did last year, but what good is that when we won't (most likely) be returning to the Finals? Larry Brown had our team very structured, if someone was hot LB knew to keep feeding that person. And if you took a bad shot or three-pointer, LB would let you know by sitting you on the bench. We have lost our discipline, that was our identity....That Flip destroyed!!!! AXE FLIP (and Matt Millen while you're at it) |

Flip did not shoot only 54% from the line. Flip did not get this team into foul trouble. Flip did not shoot only 39% from the field. There are some things some aspects of the game that can be blamed on a coach...substitutions, play calling (some), and timeout patterns. But on the whole, the Pistons lost game 4 because they forgot how to shoot the basketball. |

While the blame is not enitrely on Flip, it is a coach's responsibility to have his players ready for the playoffs. Seems maybe Flip was over confident in this crew and went a little easy on them. Either way if this is what the Pistons call "going to work" then damn...... I'm speechless |

Leadership is necessary. Management is necessary. In any situation, if something goes wrong, we go to the supervisor to get it corrected. Leadership - Leadership - Leadership. There are tons of spoiled millionaires in the NBA (Narcissistic Brats Amok) These guys require a special kind of leadership that Coach Saunders does not have for this particular team at this particular time. When Joe Dumars gets them good leaders, they complain that they make it miserable for them to earn their 5 million dollars a year (Carlisle, Brown) So what do we get? All of Joe Dumars brilliance over the past 6? years being looked at with a skewed view. SHAME! All of these fans that they claim get them out of the bed every day. If you won't do it for the fans - win for yourself. It seems to me that Ben Wallace is one of the few Pistons that owns up to the situation that they are in now and how they go there. later - naturalsister |

Guess who's going to the game tomorrow? Since I live down here in Florida, I've GOT to represent the Motor City. Fortunately, my seats aren't that great, so when they win I stand a decent chance of not getting jumped. Then again, I grew up in Detroit, so BRING IT ON!!! |

"Anyone else raise their eyebrow when Riley sat Wade down at the end of the 4th quarter when the game was still very much in reach?" I was scratching my head over that one myself. Rasheed can't be MIA tomorrow if the Pistons are going to win. They need a big game from him, something like 20 points and 8-10 rebounds. |

All pressure is on Miami now..we just have to find a way to get the lead early, keep the crowd out of it, and get Shaq and Wade in early foul trouble and continue to play aggressive the entire game. We have to play Detroit Pistons basketball!! I STILL BELIEVE!!! |

South Beach is a great place to visit, but I'd love to take a couple of those yahoo's and make them walk the Cass Corridor. These guys look like SHIT on offense! I cannot believe how many wide open shots have been missed. Rest of the game looks pretty decent. Little more D on Shaq. Lucky to only be down 11 with that kind of offense. 30% vs 55% just isn't gonna cut it. If they dont' start scoring, this thing is done. |

If Miami isn't the best in the East, who is? Certainly not the Pistons. As far as the Finals, the Mavs very well may win it all (assuming they get past Phoenix), but sweeping the Heat? Highly doubtful. |

We need a defensive oriented head coach. Defense is what got us to the finals 2 straight years...we could always get a stop when we needed it. Flip and his offense took us away from that. We now know what happened in the Cleveland series...we were lucky to get by them. Flip must go. |

SMDH @ the basketball experts and the ones that ran in the court with the Pistons every night... Had they won this thread would be singin an entirely different tune "These guys are the GREATEST!", "No one can stop US!", "Finals here we come!" You sound like a bunch of spoiled kids who just lost their favorite toy for real... I wonder if Chicago acted like that when the Bulls didn't make it to the finals after their last championship. I wonder if they turned on theor own team. Funny how some of you are making all the decisions on who needs to go and what who can do what becuase WE didn't for how how THEY played... You all need to grow up and get real, it's the nature of the game. Hell this is Miami's FIRST TIME EVER in the Finals, We have been there quite a few times. Cleveland has NEVER been in the playoffs, so why are you crying? |

People, didn't you read the Detroit News article? NBA Comissioner Stern changed the rules of the game. Defense no longer wins in this sport, at least no one thinks it's fun to watch. It's offensive plays, which blatantly rewards Kobe, LeBron, Dwayne, Phoenix, and other teams to score without facing fouls. If Detroit returns back to its defensive roots, it will look like San Antonio (who didn't even make it to the Western Conference Finals!). |

Dont believe that BS offensive nba league....that is some bull. The Heat style of play is what the NBA has been for years. Superstar players get super star calls......The Piston dont have superstars so they had to grind and play D. I don't care a talented team playing as a team will win 90% of the time. Flip came in and took away all the strenghts of the Pistons. Gimmick offenses false regular season stats had the Pistons thinking they had become this offensive juggernault. When what they truely are is a muck it up grimmy defensive force. They spent 4 years building a reputation as that and it too Flip 1 season to destroy. With his zone defenses and his ideal that more energy should be used on offense. They were a better team than the Bucks.....the Cavs exposed that gimmick offense ....the Heat proved that jumper shooters dont have legs in the 3 round. Go back to being the Detroit Pistons....and you will be back to the Finals next year. I know LB was home in the Hamptons screaming at his tv while Big Shot and Sheed were jackin 3s all game. |

I honestly believe that the fix was in. There is no way to comprehend the success of the regular season and the failures of the post season. I give big props to Tayshaun. He is the only one who showed Detroit Piston heart throughout the playoffs. He even came out after the game and gave that skinny shit-talking mofo and interview. He has a lot of class and heart. I hope he stays in a Pistons uniform for a while. Flip really showed his playoff inexperience and got his ass handed to him by the master Pat Rieley. He has got to get better at motivating the big players (Chauncey and Sheed) and teach Rip how to get the others involved during a big game. I am stil a Pistons fan true and blue and I hope Dumars keeps the team in tact. I feel the boys got exactly what they deserved by showing up and playing lackluster. I also believe that Sahq and Wade are overrated!!!, Walker is a certified scrub, Williams is laughable, Peyton should be called "the mitten" now, and Mourning is a cheating hack of a player. The other Heat players are not even CBA material. This is truly the most disappointing season since Bird stole the inbound pass from Zeek years ago. I will rest my Dave Bing trowback jersey and get ready for some Lions roar!!!! Sorry, but I live and die each week with Detroit sports for as long as I have been living. I have eye witness that I was a newborn swinging in my swing in front of Pistons, Lions and Ali on the tube. Next year boys!!!! Piston fans untie!!! Erob Chicago by way of Detroit |

Why is it so hard to admit Miami was better? They were faster all around and moved the ball better. Shaq hasn't been in better shape in 6 years and Wade has dry ice in his veins. Just give them their props. |

As much as I love everything Detroit, there is a saying "the best deserves to win". This time, Miami was better. Nuff said, move on, I still love you. See you again next year. |

there will be a sign and trade with chicago. ben wallace for tyson chandler and ben gordon. chicago finally gets a defensive center,in wallace. detroit gets a 7'1 defensive stopper who plays like 7'4 and has an untapped offesnse talet that could trive under flip. that along with ben gordon, you get instant offsense off the bench...aka. vinnie jonshon......, who will provide dribble penetration as well as the 3 point threat. that is my offseason pipe dream |

Even IF the Pistons were to make it past the Heat, the Mavericks are by far miles better than us. The offensive power displayed by Dallas against a very good Phoenix team proves a whole lot. I am putting my money on Dallas to win it all this year. |

good call 'Devinc'__ I could live with that Rasheed Wallace Tyson Chandler Tayshawn Prince Rip Hamilton Chancey Billups If my Chancey and Mcdyees for Iverson don't fall thru, then.... I'll take that trade! Ben Gordon and Antonio Mcdyees off the bench! Sweet! super d(motordetroit) |

That would be alright I guess, if it had to come to that. I would love Gordon off the bench, but I'd be surprised if Chicago would part with him for Ben Wallace. Receive offensively-challenged rebounder by giving up one of same, plus possible future franchise player. I don't see it. |
