Like I said in another thread...it's a great time to be a Detroit sports fan right now. And I fret not about the lads that skate in red & white. I'm sure they'll do just fine. As far as the Pistons & Tigers, they've been pretty amazing. |

For the sake of curiosity, I checked the odds in a local sports book today for 'futures' on the Lions. They are 30-1 to win the NFC and 60-1 to win the Super Bowl. Might just stick a couple of Hamiltons on those two propositions. |

I know I'm a little late, but did anyone notice that the entire NBA Central Division made it to the playoffs? That makes the Pistons accomplishments seem that much more amazing. Unlike the Wings, the Pistons beat up on playoff teams in their own division. http://www.nba.com/standings/t eam_record_comparison/conferen ceNew_Std_Div.html |

Not so!__ I am not a Heats fan--and definitely not a Bulls fan-- but Miami will win that series 4-1__ The difference right now is, Chicago has been playing playoff ball for more than a month, surviving to get a playoff spot__similiar to how the Oilers are playing the Redwings. (one might say, that's true about the Bucks as well)... just shows you how 'much-better' the Pistons are over the Heat Now that Miami has lost a game, you will see a difference in urgency. Heart don't when championships! But it ain't gonna matter__cause ain't nobody gonna beat the Pistons! Detroit and Indiana will be a great 2nd round series! super d(motordetroit) |

Shaq is a chump who gets by on size. Ben Wallace is a way better talent than Shaq. Also Shaq is now washed up on the Heat. He's more like a sideshow than anything. I can't wait until the Wallaces and Dale Davis shut him out, if the Heat can make it that far! |

It was a laffer by the half. I was just stoked watching Lindsey drain three after threes! He was amazing and there was no way the Cleveland bench could match that kind of firepower. It was a dominating performance if I've ever seen one. I don't think the next game is going to be as easy. After all the Cavs are still pros and they got embarrassed pretty badly today. |

The Cavaliers don't have any good players. LaBron James is just one of the best player the Cavaliers have. They bearly beat the Wizzards in game 7 And the team is not going to make it by game 5. The PISTONS GOT THE BEST SQUAD IN THE NBA! Beating the Pistons is going to be VERY hard! The Cavaliers can just go home. |

Don't get so cocky guys... there is a reason that "they play the game." Cavs are not as bad as sundays game showed. However, its hard to beat the Pistons in a seven game series. The pistons have not lost more than four games in a seven game stretch all season |

Cleveland is just a bad team. Outside of Lebron's offense (he's terrible on defense) they have nothing. Marshmallow soft both mentally and physically. This isn't even like the JV trying to play the varsity team. It's the girls 5th grade team trying to play the varsity. I think the Pistons will crank up the defense on Saturday like they did in the first half of last nights game and take game 3. (Message edited by rjk on May 10, 2006) |

The real point of my posts was not to remind everyone that the pistons do not play in detroit. If my intent was that simple then perhaps "petty" would indeed be accurate. So many discussions here have an us versus them tone. City at odds with the suburbs. Suburbs bashing the city. Opinions get dismissed because the person posting lives outside the city. An entire thread was devoted to Jack White moving from detroit. The real point of my posts was remind everyone of our all too hypocritical opinions concerning the city and it's suburbs. I point no fingers, as I include myself as one of the hypocrites. |

Rjk... comparitively Cleveland isn't THAT bad of a team. Think about all the lesser teams that would kill to be in their position. They're a team that's at least IN the playoffs, second round even. Granted they're taking on the league best Pistons and probably stand about as much chance to advance as I do in becoming the next Pope, but at least they made it this far. Compare the Cavaliers to the NY Knicks & you'd swear the Cavaliers are amazing. It's all relative. |

"Hey 'Detrola'....the irony is that most of the people shouting Deeeeetroit Basketballllll are not from Detroit__ go figure!" This is the attitude of to many people around here and goes hand in hand with the hate for Detroit attitude that is despised on here. It's the metro Detroit area. Ever go to LA? it wasn't the Inglewood Lakers. It's not the New Jersey Jets or Giants. At least the offer the shuttle deal. I like Rasheed a lot, but guys who are truly THE MAN don't shoot off their mouths (particularly in ways that will put pressure on their teammates,)they go out there and take care of business. Somebody on that team should tell Wallace, "Look, man, we love ya like crazy, but shut the f*** up." While I'm on this thread, why is it that basketball is the only major sport where, when a call goes the other team's way, the penalized player throws his hands upward and gets this whiny little baby look, like they're about to bust out in tears, like the ref took their goddam pacifier away from them? It is tiresome, and our guys do it as much as anybody. This is Detroit. We work for a living. For most of us, life is not easy. We take our lumps, get up the next day, and do it all over again, because we must. Speaking for myself, I do not appreciate, or admire, any guy in a uniform with DETROIT on the front of it acting, or even looking, like a Little Bitch. |

Before anyone jumps on me about it, I should mention that Rasheed Wallace is not an example of the look to which I referred. His look more says, "I'm gonna rip your tiny pencil neck apart with my big pointy teeth." Now, THAT'S more of a Detroit look. I'm just saying, Enough with the Guaranshees. |

Actually, the quote from the Snooze said: "Even the sun shines on a dog's (butt)" Yeah, that's exactly the sort of schitt that will get the Cav's all fired up for the next game. Somebody gag Scheed, he was better when he just played ball and didn't run his mouth. |

Rasheed talking shit isn't the blame. Chauncey averages about 16 shots per game. He went 3/10 and didn't take on his typical "If we can't score in the last few minutes of the 4th, then I'll score for us" posture. Hence the name Mr. Big Shot! What the hell?!?!. And coach Saunders needs to trust his bench more. Hunter won't score 20, but he'll get some steals and give you more chances. Tony Delk will generate some points if he could get more minutes as well. I worry about Dyess' inconsistency. Mo Evans is a VERY good player waiting to happen. I love what Chaucey is for this team, but why do you play 41 minutes and not shoot your average? Rip and Tayshaun were alone in their zeal last night. We may be the better team, but are we HUNGRY this time around? later - naturalsister |

I'm eager to see how the Pistons respond tomorrow. They certainly haven't been playing like they're on a mission as was pretty much their motto through the regular season. I think they got a little too cocky and got caught on their heels in Cleveland. I agree that Billups has to elevate his game. When you come in 5th for MVP you have to be able to put the team on your back and carry them through rough stretches. The Vegas line has the Pistons by 11. If I were a betting man (actually I am, but only slots thank you) I'd take the Pistons to cover. |

Just a hiccup in a great season; you can't play perfectly every night. These guys will be back with a vengence, even if game 7 comes up. By the way, I give the Cavs no credit, if Detroit had shot just a little better both games would have been blowouts for them. They are just nodding off at the wheel right now. Look out Cleveland I think they hit the rumble strips last night! |

Isiah also assembled a horrible roster that didn't have one single player capable of playing center. He managed to get 4(!) shoot first guards in Q, Crawford, Francis, and Marbury. He filled out the rest of the team with small forwards that have underachieved their whole careers. Now tell me how LB wins with that roster. (Message edited by Tayshaun22 on May 17, 2006) |

Concerned, YES. Worried, a little bit. Fearing that the Pistons will bow out, a possibility. I have no answers here for the Pistons. It's going to be a force of wills here. Whoever wants it more will win this series now. I'm hoping that the Pistons will want it more especially after a stellar regular season but then the Wings did the same in the NHL. |

Stick a fork in them, I think they're done. They just have a defeated look about them. As mentioned above, McDyess looked like the series is over. I believe Billups had 6 to's. I thought he'd have a big game tonight, but he played terrible. It's shocking to see a team with so much experience and composure that they've developed in big games over the years seem to basically fall apart in close games. Having that happen against the Spurs would be one thing, but against the Cavs, a team with very little playoff experience? |

i noticed that there are some pistons fans on this thread who are already doubting the pistons. there are not many, you are not even the majority. but still, shame on you. fair-weather fans make me sick. if you're ready to dump on the team and catastrophize and predict their demise once they face elimination- then you're a shitty fan and you shouldnt be cheering for the pistons in the first place. you should support the team no matter what. i don't care what mcdyess's face looked like. i dont look for him to be in the game in the clutch. there's a reason why he hadnt won schitt before he came to detroit. i don't even like mcdyess. i don't think he's a warrior like ben and rasheed are. mcdyess needs to master his fear and use it to his advantage just like chauncey, ben, rasheed, tayshaun, rip, and lindsey have done. if our five guys come to play and then the bench has timely contributions- if the pistons play scripted PISTONS BASKETBALL, the way they should play, then we can get to our goal. the pistons are not playing pistons basketball right now. i think this is Flip's chance to show his skill at setting his players straight. Flip needs to calm his players, kick their asses, and get them to play good old pistons basketball, no more, no less. (although im sure a little more wouldnt hurt) im not worried. im intrigued because yet again the pistons have given themselves a great challenge. they definitely do not take the easy route. they face elimination. will they do what it takes to win? i don't like cleveland. i think they represent everything that is wrong with the NBA- the higher priority placed on marketing a single player as if he is the messiah just to sell jerseys instead of celebrating the team ethic that has made the pistons such a great team. i don't hate lebron james. i hate what the NBA, cleveland and nike has tried to turn him into. this whole "we are just witnesses" campaign makes me want to vomit. has anyone noticed its similarity to something mentioned in the bible? its like they are saying that we are only witnesses to the greatness of the second coming of Jesus Christ. in fact, the use of the word witness in this context is a direct reference to christianity and the bible. "bear witness to the greatness of god". this makes me sick because lebron is not god, and he's not that good. the NBA culture is so hungry to have the next michael jordan that they are thrusting lebron into god's shoes- they want him to beat the pistons just like jordan did in order to fulfill their schitt-faced prophecy. lebron's talented. but he's just another player. i beleive in the greatness of the team ethic. my user name, in fact, comes from a joking-yet-serious term i use when i cheer at pistons games. i think the pistons have begun a revolution in the NBA- a change back to the team-first, play-right, play with courage and attitude philosophy. no other team has it but i think some are trying to mimic it. i like what the clippers have been doing, for example. alright thats enough of my know-it-all schitt for now. |

good rant revolution, but bron bron is not just another player. he is 21 years of age and was 3rd in the league in scoring. he also records near triple doubles on a nightly basis. i would categorize that in something other than "just another player" |

I don't think anyone here is fair-weathered. If we weren't fans we wouldn't waste time on this thread. You can be a worried and rational fan. I think I am both. I am worried because not only is this the first time all year the Pistons have lost three in row as Lowell mentioned but the Cavs are doing this without L. Hughes. Sure he's probably not a series maker but the guy can play. Taking that into account leads me to one rational conclusion. Cavs in 6. I hope I am wrong but there is a lot going against our guys. Game is on the road. Hughes should play and that could/should give them an emotional boost. LeBron is not god I agree but he can change a game by himself and is the only guy that will play Friday you can say that about. |

"i don't even like mcdyess. i don't think he's a warrior like ben and rasheed are." Hell, McDyess was the "Only one" who played like a warrior yesterday. If it wasn't for him showing up big time in the 4th the Pistons wouldn't even of had a chance to win it at the end. 11 pts., 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 27 minutes. McDyess is a quiet guy, but hopefully he gave his teammates a tongue lashing over their lackadaisical play. McDyess certainly doesn't need to look in the mirror, he played great. |

The thing that concerns me is that the Cavs are outplaying the Pistons at "team ball" Sure the Pistons spread their points around more, but the Cavs are the ones hustling, the Cavs are the ones with effective role player contributions, and the CAVS ARE THE ONES WITH SOME SCHMUCK NAMED ANDERSON VAREJAO WHO IS SINGLEHANDEDLY MAKING THE PISTONS LOOK SILLY. Forget LeBron, the CAVS are beating us. LeBron dropped 30-something last night, but the Cavs scored in the 80s. |

This isn't the team I love, the one who makes me proud to be a Detroiter, the ones who wore The D proudly and did things the way we do them here! They were an underdog team representing an underdog city and we were the ragged crew standing behind them. Now we have 5 cocky fools and a bench that probably wants it more but has no say. I'm not ruling them out yet, but I could liken this to being disapointed by a good friend. This was bound to happen folks.....dearest Flip came in and changed our beloved scrappy grind it out Pistons in the Timberwolves east in one season. 1st ...he said that we should extend some of that defensive energy to offense...mistake 1 2nd...he implemented the "ZONE" which is another word for "we can't guard you one on one" mistake 2....3rd ..When have the Piston ever game planned for one star how about NEVER!!! If KING JAMES SCORES 60 thats okay dont let the rest of those bums get schitt!! mistake 3........Now he has our team second guessing there decisions...questioning their skills.....and they look totally confused. Bounced out in the 2nd round thats a shame. |

I think this is all about what makes great basketball. If the Pistons win the next two games it would be among the most exciting games in Piston's recent history. If they don't, oh well. By the way, I wasn't at the Palace last night but it sure did seem like the fans were sitting on their hands. Cleveland's fans seemed as loud and as excited as could be and there's little doubt they were a significant factor in those two games and maybe THE factor in #4. There isn't much talk about the crowd giving the Pistons an absolute zero level of support at a time when they needed it more than ever. Are the fans as guilty of "expecting" wins as the coaches and players seem to be. How different would that game's outcome been with more live fan support? The Pistons were firmly in control of this series...and then Larry Hughes's brother died. My understanding is he was know and loved by the entire Cavs organization. Motivation is a funny thing in pro sports, with everyone paid and living well. It's clear this "death in the family" has totally energized the Cavs to play above themselves... When Lebron said to the press "It's not Life and death...its just basketball", it was clear to me the influence the death of the Hughes kid was having on the Cavs perspective of this series...and how hollow the words of Sheed must have rung on them. That's scary. I hope two things happen tonight...that the Cavs come down to earth and realize this series means something to them...and thus feel pressure for the first time since game 2, and that the Pistons reimpose their will and restore the natural order to this series. There is always a defining moment on the way to a championship...when nothing is sure and everything hangs in the balence. In 2004, it was going into New Jersey down 3-2 and pevailing when everyone thought the season was ending that night. They never looked back. For the Wings in 2002, it was going into Colorado down 3-2...and the Avs never scored another goal in that series, Hasek pitching two straight shutouts when it counted most...and the Wings never looked back. Let's do this. |

Thank the Cavaliers (i.e. LeBron) for making costly mistakes in the game. Pistons, repeat Game 1 in Game 7!!! |

This is Cavs team that the Pistons should not only beat, but they should smoke... lets hope they get their act together, because lets be honest, they may have won tonight, but they did not play like their usual selfs. |

What was up with the late free throws or the lack thereof? They could've slammed the door on them with a few timely ones and they'd crank the iron far too much. I'm hoping they just get a good healthy lead in game #7, get the crowd into it and grind 'em into the ground. No more pussy footing with these guys. Besides I'm tired to seeing our team get muscled around by a guy who looks like Carrot Top. |

I never would have thought Ben Wallace would shoot a better % from the line than Rasheed, 2-6 compared 2-7. By no means a thing of beauty, but they live to fight another day. To quote Rasheed, "The Palace will be bananas on Sunday. Nice impersonation of Lazarus by the Spurs also. |

Nice analogy of the Spurs there Rjk! Both of these championship teams are just hell bent on adding a little bit more drama and tension to their legacy, aren't they? |

I hate the artificial anointment by the NBA of players. Of course LB is good....but I wish they would let the evolution take its natural course...The Pistons will have to win by 10 or more because those touch fouls they call for LB are ridiculous. The Flippster has to stop coaching scared...these are OUR Freakin PISTONS!! not the twolves...This is what we do!!! |

I'm in agreement with you there, Detroiternthemist. We should be the ones dictating pace. We have the much more talented team here so why not impose our will as much as we can. That happened the first two games and then we let the Cavs get some come uppnace and now we're faced with a game #7. We should've continued being the aggressor. |
