Channel 7 had an interesting piece with Steve Wilson a few minutes ago.

It seems that with the city bleeding red ink and no budget agreement in sight, hizhonor the mayor has decided to take a little siesta and go on a cruise beginning next week.

Of course, hizhonor the mayor vigorously denied

1.) even planning a trip,

2.) sticking with his original travel plans after being confronted with the specifics of his trip and...

3.) with an incredibly pissed off look on his face, claimed that he will instead stay in town since cc shot down the latest budget.

Will the truth come out?

Only time will tell...

Even taking vacations has got to give way to what was once known as common sense.

BTW, I forgot to mention that he'll be bringing mom kilpatrick, mrs kilpatrick, and several members of the kilpatrick brood as well...

Let the man take his family on the cruise.

There was probably a big cancellation fee anyways...and this just HAS to be with his own money this time, right?

At least one of the foundations that launder the graft...not from the city's coffers. So it should not be any of our business...right?!

He's got a big fight ahead of him this year and will need the rest.

Excellent question, Gannon.

Oh, Mr. Wilson: Just under whose credit card did hizhonor book that vacation on anyway?

Certainly your source that you've cited on this evening's program can confirm at least that much.

That, or another FOIA request.

I disagree. With the seriousness of a heart attack KK, THE MAYOR, should be in Detroit to see it through. Regardless of his BS of recent this is NOT the time to take a vacation.

BTW: Doesn't he get enough Kwame time?

Damn, if he's going to show up at the picnic, will I need to get more burgers?

Oh, let him go on the cruise with his family - even KK deserves a break - as long as he pays for it with his money and not mine!

It should if you live around here.

The man (and I use that term loosely) is supposed to be a leader.

When you have a city on the verge of a financial meltdown, TPTB fighting amongst themselves like cats and dogs, and the mayor's family tossing in a few firebombs into the equation to boot, the last thing that someone in his position should do is skip town.

This has nothing to do with whether or not he is entitled to a vacation, although I'm still curious as to exactly who is paying for it, but rather the timing behind his decision.

Political/News junkies know that the timer is counting down before the state comes in and cleans house, contrary to the protests by the guv that this is furthest from her mind, the state simply has no other choice in the matter.

How the mayor cannot be aware of this is beyond me?

My sentaments exactly! Sure he deserves a vacation just like anyone else (regardless of how they do their job) but now is NOT the time for this vacation. It seems he just wants to get out of the limelight he so desperately craved not too long ago.

At the risk of asking an obvious question: Does anyone know if hizhonor is currently MIA?
